"No island in the world elicits a greater sense of golden idleness and a freewheeling love of the pleasures of life than the Italian island of Capri. As far back as 500 BC, the Greeks saw it as a rocky paradise of hedonism and much more recently they were followed by the Marquis de Sade and Oscar Wilde. Even if only half the stories of the debauchery in Capri are true, it has been a good host island to those who believe that life is for living.
There is a unique beauty to the place and a refined simplicity that seduced Hollywood in the 1950s and Jacqueline Kennedy not long after. I sense that Capri does not have to try too hard, because it doesn’t really need to; everything is there and most of it always will be. There is security in the longevity of tenure.
The island’s greatest trick is to offer a sense of belonging to visitors. Our cousins from across the pond, who come every year in their thousands, call it “little America...

"It was the 18th of April 2019, when the City of Chicago closed down the intersection of LaSalle and Madison Streets in front of the Chicago Board of Trade to allow a brown bear named Adam to model for the legendary photographer David Yarrow. Winter still had not left its hold on the air to allow spring in. It was a very cold night!
Moments before, David had finished another photoshoot. And then Adam the Bear arrived. He liked Snickers bars and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups...

"My first collaboration with the real Wolf of Wall Street - Jordan Belfort - in the autumn of 2019, resulted in the coveted image -The Wolves of Wall Street. That photograph has now sold out and I was honoured that both Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese signed a copy which sold for $200,000 at Art Miami at the end of that year.
It was always our intention to do a sequel, but Covid put paid to that in 2020. However, the delay gave me time to consider various options for the story line and fine tune logistics. The unanimous choice for round two was to shoot the boat scene with the FBI agents. For many it is the most memorable scene in the whole movie and of course there is intense competition for that top spot.
In May of this year we had an opportunity to shoot our sequel off the coast of Marina del Rey in Los Angeles. I had so much more light to play with than in the dealing room shot and my instinct was to be bold in the amount of content I could include in one frame. Indeed, I had to work on the basis that the one frame had to tell the full story, otherwise the job would not have been done properly. This is one of the challenges of still photography...

"Born in Vail, Colorado, Mikaela Shiffrin has the most World Cup wins (currently 88) of any alpine skier in history (men or women) and is considered one of the greatest alpine skiers of all time. She is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, a five-time Overall World Cup champion and a four-time world champion in slalom.
A role model for young athletes across the world, she was named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine in 2023. I was delighted and honoured that she agreed to be part of our sporting legends series.
Mikaela dates another skiing superstar - Norway’s downhill legend - Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and they train in the summer in his home country. I saw this as my opportunity as we have strong contacts in Oslo and I felt that we could do something a little different. It would be rather lame to photograph Mikaela on a ski slope.
