Porto Rotondo, Estate Edition (Yachts in Sardinia, Italy)
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Slim Aarons' Pool at Porto Rotundo, an Estate Edition photograph, is a vintage scene of pleasure yachts moored in a sandy cove at Porto Rotondo, Sardinia, July 1990. Visual Description: Yachts moored in a turquoise cove offset by deeper blue sea, surrounded by the dramatic cliffs of a rocky shore. Over the course of a career lasting half a century, Slim Aarons (1916-2006) portrayed high society, aristocracy, authors, artists, business icons, the celebrated and their milieu. In doing so, he captured a golden age of wealth, privilege, beauty and leisure, a history of glamour that occurred alongside—but quite separate from—the cultural and political backdrop of the second half of the Twentieth Century. Saint-Tropez, France is a glamorous vacation destination west of Nice and east of Marseille in the Var department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, Southern France. The adjacent narrow body of water is the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. Increasingly known for his influence, Aarons's casually glamorous jetset aesthetic can be seen today in fashion, art, and celebrity photography. Recent articles credit his work with inspiring the casually flawless style of top Instagram influencers, full of sunshine and escapism. Reference: "Dive in: how Slim Aarons art directed the poolside summer. French brand Maje are the latest label to take inspiration from Slim Aarons’ pictures of the jetset on holiday." Lisa Klausner (American, 1955-) 1983 "Collins Avenue" Signed bottom right Frame: 28" X 32" Image: 14" X 18.5" This is printed on paper in pastel deco colors and appears to be a photo based color print. Lisa Klausner born in Northeast Ohio, Shaker heights. After college, she lived in South Florida and then New York City, where she worked as a photographer. Her work has appeared in the New York Times Magazine and is in the permanent collection at the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Brooklyn Museum. This is from the Miami Vice period when she lived and worked in Miami Beach, South Beach Art Deco district. “It was a desert,” said Lisa Klausner, 31, a photographer who was one of the first of the deco converts to move to Ocean Drive in 1981. Wood- Signed limited edition still life print, Black white photo, Landscape
Located in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona
Wood - Signed limited edition archival pigment print, 1981 - Edition of 5 The legacy of Ian is deeply woven into the fabric of our gallery. During his lifetime, Ian prepared all the archival pigment prints available in our gallery, leaving behind an unparalleled collection that stands as a testament to his skill and dedication. Today, those photographs are more than just artworks; they are tangible reminders of his passion and his commitment to excellence. We continue to honor his memory by preserving his work and sharing it. Please note. There are three sizes of this archival pigment print ; each is an edition of five (5) making the total that can be printed as fifteen (15). This will include any custom sizes requested Signed + numbered by artist with certificate of authenticity, unframed Edition of 5 Archival pigment print available sizes : 40 x 53 cm / 15,75 x 20,87 in. - Edition of 5 56 x 75 cm / 22,05 x 29,53 in. - Edition of 5 75 x 100 cm / 29,53 x 39,37 in. - Edition of 5 Ian Sanderson (born 1951 Scotland, died 2020 Spain) was a Scottish photographer. He produced images over a 35 year career, and in recent years used archival techniques to produce his prints. For most of his career he worked as both a Commercial and Fine Art photographer, and during his last years concentrated on his personal imagery. Towards the end of his life journey, Ian was reviving with his partner two 19th century printing techniques in their studio, Platinum Palladium and Gum Bichromate ( one-of-a-kind pieces). This culminated in a large retrospective exhibition in Barcelona which was sponsored by the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation. The Platinum and Palladium prints are particularly interesting as they printed them onto vellum paper therefore transparent and bonded pure gold or silver to the back of the prints ( every print is therefore a unique and timeless piece of art). They have created rare and personalized pieces with an artisanal technique. Ian Sanderson was one of only a handful of artists worldwide producing this type of work. Nowadays, Ian’s partner continues their work, she’s still creating Platinum Palladium prints but also silver gelatin photographs. Please note that prices increase as editions sell. categories : Black and white photography, 20th. century, Archival pigment print, Hospitality, Forest, Monochromatic Landscape Art...

Vintage C Print "Of Time and Change" Boulders on a Sea Shore
By Sonja Bullaty
Located in Surfside, FL
1981, Chromogenic Print. It is supposed to be signed lower right recto but has not been examined out of frame. Provenance: Bernice Steinbaum Gallery, New York; ARCO Chemical Company, Newtown Square, PA. Sonja Bullaty (October 17, 1923 - October 5, 2000) was a Jewish American photographer. Bullaty is known for her "lyrical composition" and strong use of color during her fifty-year collaboration with her husband, Angelo Lomeo. Bullaty and Lomeo's photographs appeared in LIFE, Time and Audubon magazines and journal. They have both exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the International Center of Photography, the George Eastman House, UMPRUM Museum in Prague, in the Nikon House galleries and other venues. Bullaty was born in Prague to a Jewish banking family. Her family gave her a camera when she turned fourteen. Since Bullaty had been forced to leave school at the time, the camera was a "consolation gift." When Bullaty was eighteen, she was deported by the Nazis to Poland, where she was kept in the Lodz ghetto, and then later taken to Auschwitz and Gross-Rosen concentration camps. During a death march near Dresden, she and a friend successfully hid in a barn and were able to escape and return to Prague. When she got back to her home city, she discovered that no one else in her family had survived the Holocaust. Bullaty, "her head shaved," saw and answered an advertisement to be the helper to Czech photographer, Josef Sudek. As his assistant, she mixed chemicals for the darkroom, organized his negatives and learned from his sense of composition.[1] Sudek called her his "apprentice-martyr." Sudek's work often focused on the Czech landscape and windows, such as in the series The Windows of My Studio (1940-1954). Bullaty also photographed windows, but unlike Sudek, who photographed his own windows looking out, Bullaty photographed windows looking into buildings. Bullaty published a book, Sudek (1978), about her mentor, and it was the first publication of his work in the West. Bullaty found work with a photographer on her third day in New York. Also in 1947, she met Angelo Lomeo. They were brought together when she was inquiring about a darkroom in a building he managed. Lomeo was intrigued by Bullaty's accent and went to see her. They started photographing together a year later, traveling and sharing resources; during their time together, they became close. Bullaty and Lomeo were married in 1951. Later, when she was married, she and her husband would visit Sudek and bring him photography supplies. They visited him in Czechoslovakia "almost yearly." In 1971, she helped mount an exhibition of Sudek's work in New York. As photographers, Bullaty and Lomeo started using studio cameras...

Mindy, Fire Island, Fire Island Pines, NY, 1985
Located in Hudson, NY
Listing is for UNFRAMED print. Inquire within for framing. Edition 3 of 25 After 30 years on West 11th Street, The Robin Rice Gallery celebrates its first ever exhibition for Robin Rice. For decades, Robin has exhibited a wide variety of photographers at the gallery but never her own work. As the show’s title denotes, “It’s About Time.” The opening reception will be held on Wednesday, January 23rd from 6pm to 8pm. The exhibit runs through March 17, 2019. While her photography spans five decades and multiple continents, Rice maintains a cohesive, candid voice that carries throughout all of her work. Observing the world around her in a cinematic way, she possesses an uncanny ability to recognize and capture moments of beauty and the spontaneity of the human spirit. By evoking a wonderstruck sensibility, Rice expresses a deep-rooted love for both people and landscapes using her distinct bohemian style. In this salon-style retrospective, Rice uses an “old school” approach and shoots with her Nikon on Tri-X film. When creating her art, she insists, “the camera has a mind of its own.” The scenes captured in her photography are unedited and thus born purely from the magic of the in-camera composition. In the invitational image, “Tree Farm, Long Lane, East Hampton, NY”, 1999, a naked woman wearing nothing but a large straw hat is captured from behind, centered between a long line of trees on either side, as she bikes down the lane. In another image, “Bubbles, Piazza Rondanini, Roma”, 1995, friends linger before a vine-covered building, extending their arms up in joyful wonder, catching bubbles descending from above. Receiving her first camera at the age of 11, she has since been an avid fine art photographer. After moving from Philadelphia to New York in 1976, Rice was immediately swept up in the electrifying, fast-paced art world of the city. In 1977, Discoworld Magazine hired her to photograph the opening night of Studio 54. After enjoying 23 years of success as a commercial photographer, she shifted her career to become a gallerist, opening The Robin Rice Gallery in 1990. Curating 175 shows, Robin developed her own “school” of artists, cultivating a keen eye for curating and in doing so enriching the aesthetic of her own fine art photography. Despite devoting much of her energy to the gallery, Rice has never stopped creating her own art, and has exhibited in several galleries nationally and abroad. Influenced by photographer and gallerist Alfred Stieglitz, who curated the art of others and exhibited his own work, Rice is ready to showcase her photography on her own turf. In her spare time, Robin has recently taken up DJing: you can often find DJ Redshoes spinning vinyl at her loft in Beacon. Sepia Tone, Nude, Beach, Sand, Sky, Clouds, Pines, Fire Island...
