Some of David Halliday's most engaging works are those from his Box Series in which he merges traditional ideas about light and composition with contemporary experiments. In this series an empty cookie tin becomes a tiny studio for food objects. Halliday carefully styles his photographic subjects inside and, allowing only natural light to seep in through a circular window. The results feel less like still lifes and more like intimate portraits of human sustenance. In these photographs, the fleshy curves of a fig, the slick bodies of sardines, even the homeliest porcini mushrooms possess a degree of nobility, providing a refreshing contrast to the compulsive relationship we so often have with food, reminding us to slow down and savor with gratitude.
In this particular image, a bunch of radishes with their deep pink skins are are gently brushed with the natural diffused light, echoing techniques associated with a Vermeer painting!

In 1999, Lori Nix and Kathleen Gerber transplanted themselves to New York City, bringing an urban feel to their photos. In the series, "Some Other Place" (2000-2002), neighborhood sidewalks, city parks, and forays into the wilderness were reconstructed, but with a darker sensibility than their earlier series. Nix and Gerber’s subdued color palette and increasingly complex compositions also reflect this change.
Lori Nix and Kathleen Gerber have been making art collaboratively for over sixteen years. Originally from the American Midwest, now based in Brooklyn, they construct meticulously detailed model environments and photograph the results. For the last decade they have found inspiration in their urban surroundings, imagining a future mysteriously devoid of mankind. Their miniature fake landscapes and interiors reflect a love of science fiction and dystopian entertainment (think “Blade Runner,” “Planet of the Apes,” “Logan’s Run...

Castelloland works with objects whose uniqueness is fundamental to the narrative of each story, as each image reacts and develops through the interaction between the word and the object. This series is composed of more than 30 photographs and the stories that connect them, which oscillate between fiction and reality.
The artistic work of Paloma Castello, giving life or a different narrative to the past of an object. She is interested in playing with memory and relating it to the present, creating an atmosphere between reality and fiction. Castellos' family and social origins have a powerful influence on her work. She grew up surrounded by objects and anecdotes inherited from her ancestors that inspire endless surreal stories. Her work arises from these experiences; They are evidence of her “autofiction.” Paloma Castello presents us with a work full of nostalgia. Her artistic work represents the soul of her proposal: inherited objects discovered or found that have become the tip of the iceberg of her past.
