This impressively large 1971 lithograph - pencil signed and numbered from the limited edition of only 89, with a stacked LOVE drawing on the front - depicts Robert Indiana's iconic LOVE sculpture (from the permanent collection of the Indianapolis Museum of Art) when it was exhibited at Central Park in New York City. This was the turn of the decade of the 1970s - during the height of the anti-Vietnam War protests of the Nixon Administration, when the presence of Indiana's monumental cor-ten steel LOVE in Central Park took on a much deeper significance in New York and indeed the country. This important print is pencil signed, dated and numbered by Robert Indiana from the very small edition of only 89. It also bears a drawing - a flourish - of the word LOVE written by the artist in pencil. Very few of the signed editions of this print remain -- so it is rarely seen on the market. Indeed, eighty nine (89) is a very small edition; however, this oversized print was used for promotional purposes in public places, so very few of the 89 signed and numbered works remain - let alone with the original stacked love drawing. . Robert Mangold (born October 12, 1937) is an American minimalist artist. He is also father of film director and screenwriter James Mangold. Mangold first trained at the Cleveland Institute of Art from 1956-59, and then at Yale University, New Haven, (BFA, 1961; MFA, 1963).
In 1961 he married Sylvia Plimack, and they moved to New York. In the summer of 1962 Mangold was hired as guard at the Museum of Modern Art.
Mangold's work challenges the typical connotations of what a painting is or could be, and his works often appear as objects rather than images. Elements refer often to architectural elements or have the feeling architecture to them. He almost always works in extensive series, often carried through both paintings and lithograph works on paper. Mangold’s early work consisted largely of monochromatic free-standing constructions. In 1968 he began employing acrylic instead of oil painting, rolling rather than spraying it on Masonite or plywood grounds. Within the year, he moved from these more industrially oriented supports to canvas. In 1970 he began working with shaped canvases and within the year began brushing rather than spraying paint onto canvas. Mangold made his first prints in 1972 at Crown Point Press and has made prints throughout his career, working with Pace Editions and Brooke Alexander Editions.
In 1965, the Jewish Museum in New York held the first major exhibition of what was called Minimal art (Minimalism) and included Robert Mangold. In 1967, he won a National Endowment for the Arts grant and in 1969, a Guggenheim Fellowship. In 1971, he had his first solo museum exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum. Major museum exhibitions of his work have since been held the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego (1974), the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam (1982), Hallen für Neue Kunst in Schaffhausen (1993), and Musée d’Orsay in Paris (2006). He has been featured in the Whitney Biennial four times, in 1979, 1983, 1985, and 2004. His work is related to Geometric Abstraction.

"Last Minute Shopping #2" is a digital print on cotton rag, acid-free paper by generative artist Stephen Boyd. Including the wood frame it measures 24x24". Based on mathematical computation, the artist has programmed thousands of lines into two grid patterns that reveal textured backgrounds, moiré effects and organic shapes that allude to motion and plant growth (among other natural processes).
Stephen makes generative art (not AI art) based on Organizing Principle Ratios and Emergent Structure – all of which means the artist is programming coherent visual relationships and compositional structures into every artwork. Simple rules, repeated millions of times, result in hypnotic, beautiful images.
From Stephen – "I consider myself a composer for an infinite orchestra, where each instrument plays a single note that endlessly ricochets off its neighbours."
Stephen Boyd is a Toronto-based artist using code as a medium for creating prints and interactive works since 2003. For the last 20 years, Stephen has explored the idea of simple patterns written in code, repeating millions of times to create beauty through emergent structure. His work for the last five years has focused on creating generative art for print and screen.
Stephen's prints and installation work have been exhibited in solo and group shows. He has presented at the Marshall McLuhan Festival, Siggraph, and held an Artist-in-Residence position at Centennial College.

Why a circle? When she explores her fascination with this shape, she discovers that the circle represents all that is familiar and comforting. This terrific offset lithograph print exemplifies the combination of religion and kitsch that Lanigan Schmidt is best known for. This print was created in the 1980s for the famous Artsounds portfolio, which featured prints by Marcel Duchamp, Jonathan Borofsky among others. Lanigan-Schmidt was a subject of a 2013 retrospective at PS1 MOMA and is on the faculty of the School of Visual Arts in New York.
