About the artist:
Francois "Fanch" Ledan (b. 1949) is noted for colorful scenes of his native Brittany. In 1968 he abandoned his studies in commercial design for full-time studies in painting and fine art. His talent was quickly recognized and soon he was involved in major European shows. He became involved in printmaking in 1973 when he learned lithography in Paris. Since then he has had numerous one-person shows in Europe, North America and South America.
His paintings and lithographs from the 1970's and 1980's display characteristics often associated with "naïve" art. His views of Paris, a city which has embraced naïve art, display the attention to detail,

About the artist:
Born in Washington state, Earl Biss became a well-known Native American artist. He was raised by his grandmother on the Crow reservation in Montana and earned a scholarship to the Institute of American Indian Art in Santa Fe where he studied jewelry design. He attended the San Francisco Art Institute and then traveled widely in Europe where he was heavily influenced by the impressionist style of Monet and other European artists.
His paintings have a dream-like, abstract quality with Indian figures merging with the landscape. He worked on numerous paintings, sometimes as many as twenty, simultaneously. On October 18, 1998, he died from a stroke while in his studio painting.
• 1965 - 1966 Studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Was a member of the inaugural class. The IAIA was founded in 1962.

It depicts the territories of the Ottoman Empire in Europe, predominantly Eastern Europe. Highlights include, the Mediterranean Sea, the Adriatic Sea, the Black Sea, the Dalmation Coast including present day Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Italy, Greece, North Macedonia, Turkey, Romania, Hungary, Albania, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Transylvania, Moldova and southern portions of France, Switzerland, Germany, and Poland..
The map consists of two sheets joined as one along a vertical joint. The map has original hand-coloring. It is printed on antique hand-made laid, chain-linked paper with wide margins. The sheet measures 24.88" high and 38" wide. There is a central vertical joint, as issued. The map is in very good condition.
Nicholas Sanson d'Abbeville (1600-1667) was one of the greatest French cartographather of French cartography. Sanson opened his first printing business in Paris in 1638. WHAT IS A CYANOTYPE?
The cyanotype (a.k.a. sun-print) process is one of the oldest in the history of photography, dating back to the 1840's.
Cyanotypes were then made famous by Anna Atkins, considered the first female photographer. Inspired by nature, we feel the need to look back at a craft that is handmade, analogue, and using an all-natural light source: the sun.
Our cyanotypes are made by coating high-quality Italian watercolor paper with a light-sensitive emulsion. We then expose it in direct sunlight for several minutes using a photo negative to get the best image quality. Finally, the print is washed and fixed with water to stop the reaction and prevent fading.

A fresh and unfaded woodblock print showing a view of cherry tree boughs heavy with glowing blossoms before a vista of rolling hills with stylized Japanese pine beneath a luminous, golden sunset.
Morihiro Sato graduated from Musashino College of Fine Art before studying under the printmaker Joichi Hoshi (1913-1979). Sato’s work focuses on the beauty of nature, particularly that of trees. Through the medium of woodblock with inclusion of metallic pigments, his delicately atmospheric prints evoke a sense of gentle sense of wonder.
