Inscribed verso Enthymeme Wm. Pellicone #14, 9-4-58. Label on reverse with a typed definition for Enthymeme. Dimensions: 27 inches high, 42.5 inches wide. Metal wrap frame. Provenance: from a Shelter Island NY home that was designed by architect Henry J. Gazon - A.I.A. built in 1959. William Pellicone (1915-2004) was an American painter known for his abstract compositions and use of vibrant colors. He was born in New York City and studied at the Art Students League and the Brooklyn Museum Art School. Pellicone's early work was influenced by the Social Realist movement of the 1930s and 1940s, with his paintings often featuring realistic depictions of urban scenes and working-class people. However, in the 1950s he shifted towards abstraction, exploring the interplay of color and form. Pellicone's mature style was characterized by his use of vibrant, saturated colors, often applied in thick layers of paint. His paintings often featured geometric shapes and organic forms, with a strong sense of movement and energy. In addition to his painting, Pellicone was also a respected teacher and arts administrator. He taught at the New York Institute of Technology and the State University of New York, and served as the director of the Islip Art Museum on Long Island. Pellicone's artwork was exhibited widely during his lifetime, and he was the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including a National Endowment for the Arts grant in 1977. Today, his paintings can be found in the collections of museums and galleries around the world, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. "Fateful Flowers №2" Sculpture 17.5" x 12 "x 13" inch Ed. 1/1 by Sergii Shaulis 2020 Approximate weight 15 lbs Man. From the Fateful Flowers series: "I believe that flowers are like people. Flowers come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. Some extremely rare and some very common. They are all beautiful in their own unique way..." The goal of this project is to reflect the duality of the world. The artist tries to show the fine line between the terrible and the beautiful. The work is a result of observing the lives of people whose destinies were changed by chance. This is the story of an explosion preceded by another explosion until the situation becomes understood later. It is about the opportunity to see the beautiful and vice versa. Illusory freedom that you define for yourself, constrained by those restrictions. A person can never be 100 % sure about his life as the red roses can change their delicate velvet petals to the cold metal shine at one point. A flower is a metaphor for human growth and development. Freedom depends on the size of the pot, the boundaries of which are determined by the individual. Nowadays, when the whole planet is isolated due to the pandemic, we want to be free more than ever. In the modern world, thus, binding to a position (rooting) becomes obsolete. ABOUT ARTIST Born on 27 May 1985 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Twist of Fate
Located in Bloomfield, ON
An abstract outdoor sculpture, presenting a different shape and motion from every angle. In 1973/74 Don Frost attended Sheridan Art College followed by a decision to become a professional sculptor having just received a major commission for a large 15' tall sculpture for a new mall being built in Peterborough, Ontario. This was followed by the creation of the largest sculpture in Canada in 1983 by winning a competition for an indoor work for the Michael Starr Building in Oshawa, Ontario. Always seeking new outlets for art Don acquired an art agent in Ottawa which led to an introduction to a patron who kept Don busy creating more than 40 sculptures in a period of twenty years. Don’s work internationally was recently a commission for four large works for a garden in Club Medjulis in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Previous to this in an expansive design project by the late King Hussein for a 1.6 km wall of huge relief...
