Damien Hirst - Abacus, hirst, skull, silver, sculpture, contemporary art
Located in London, GB
Damien Hirst (b.1965) Abacus - The Dream is Dead 2007 silver 14.5 x 14 x 21 cm incised, titled and numbered ‘Abacus Damien Hirst The Dream is dead 2/12’ (on the verso) edition 2/12 Price: $85,000 USD Provenance: White Cube, London Private collection, New York Sale: Christie’s London, 29 June 2011, lot 114 Private collection, London (acquired at the above sale) Notes: ‘I remember I was thinking that there were four important things in life: religion, love, art and science. At their best, they’re all just tools to help you find a path through the darkness. None of them really work that well, but they help. Of them all, science seems to be the one right now. Like religion, it provides the glimmer of hope that maybe it will be all right in the end.’ (D. Hirst, quoted in conversation with S. O’Hagan in New Religion Damien Hirst, exh. cat., British Council, London, 2006, p. 5) Born in 1965 in Bristol, Hirst grew up in Leeds and subsequently went to Goldsmith's College in London. Between 1988 and 1990 he curated a series of exhibitions of work by his contemporaries including the highly acclaimed group shows Freeze, Modern Medicine and Gambler. In his own work Hirst has continually challenged the boundaries between art, science, the media and popular culture. A 12-foot tiger shark, a cow and her calf sawn in two, pharmaceutical bottles...

Dance Within - Wear Only Sky
Located in Loveland, CO
Dance Within, Wear Only Sky by Denny Haskew Set of 2, Bronze with Stainless Steel, Figures dancing in rings, gold and silver representing yin/yang, masculine/feminine, sun/moon female: 20x18x11" ed/21 male: 22x19x12" ed/21 "Just as the ancients danced to call upon the spirits in nature, we too can dance to find the spirits within ourselves that have long been buried and forgotten." - Anna Halprin ABOUT THE ARTIST: Denny Haskew currently resides in Loveland, Colorado where he is actively engaged in the art industry as a sculptor. He received his degree from the University of Utah, then served two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Having spent numerous years as a guide and ski instructor, Denny has learned to love the rivers and mountains of the western states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah. After moving to Loveland, a hub of successful working sculptors, he wasted no time in getting monumental sculpture experience through working with renowned sculptors including Fritz White and Kent Ullberg N.A. Since 1987, Denny has created and placed dozens of monumental compositions; spanning the full spectrum of the figurative genre. As a member of the Potawatomi Citizen Nation, it is only natural for his artwork to follow the Native American culture. His art has not been limited to Native American and southwestern subjects, however, as he frequently explores abstract forms placing emphasis on the qualities of the metal and stone used. As a Charter member of the National Sculptors' Guild and being close to other sculptors and the Loveland area foundries has helped him to master all the foundry processes involved in producing a desirable and lasting monumental bronze sculpture. Over 50 major public placements include the Smithsonian Institution, DC.; the Gilcrease Museum, OK; Cerritos, CA; Little Rock, AR; the Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Sioux collection, MN, and the Barona Band of Mission Indians...

"Ex Nihilo Fragment 3", Frederick Hart, Figurative Bronze Sculpture, 43x31x18 in
Located in Dallas, TX
"Ex Nihilo Fragment 3" by Frederick Hart is a figurative bronze with the edition of 61/65. I saw Ex Nihilo (Out of Nothingness) as a single expression of creation, as the metamorphosis of divine spirit and energy. The figures emerge from the nothingness of chaos, caught in the moment of eternal transformation — the majesty and mystery of divine force in a state of becoming. -Frederick Hart Ex Nihilo, Fragment No.3. Meditation original Shona stone sculpture signed by Dudzai Mushawepwere
Located in Milwaukee, WI
'Meditation' original opal serpentine sculpture signed by Zimbabwean artist Dudzai Mushawepwere. The sculpture uses abstraction in the human figure to capture an abstract state of mind: the sculpture presents the form of a woman, her hips wide and arms long. Her arms reach over and hold her circular head, which floats neckless above the torso like a nearly-setting sun. The figure thusly separates their mind and thoughts from their bodily and earthly concerns and instead connects themselves to the heavens. The image reminds of the dancer drawings...

Grandmother original signed Shona stone sculpture by Colleen Madamombe
Located in Milwaukee, WI
'Grandmother' is an original black serpentine sculpture by the celebrated second generation Shona artist Colleen Madamombe. The sculpture presents a character common to Madamombe's work: a woman with a round face and wearing a billowing, layered dress. Here, a woman leans on her cane, suggesting her old age. The imagery reminds of Madamombe's larger themes of womanhood, sisterhood, and matrilineage. As is so desired of her work, this sculpture is a play in texture: their faces and hands are polished and smooth, which is juxtaposed with the rough-hewn surfaces of the clothing and hair. black serpentine 28 x 15 x 10 inches Signed along the base on the reverse Acquired directly from the artist (C-51) Excellent condition with no chips or signs of wear Colleen Madamombe (1964–2009) was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. Considered to be among the finest new talents from Zimbabwe, she won the award of Best Female Artist of Zimbabwe three years in a row, and became an established figure of the Second Generation of Zimbabwean stone...
