His latest pendant, in 14 karat yellow gold, is a perfect example -- with the border of raised dots -- Eytan's "caviar" pattern -- blends interestingly into the busy landscape of a mechanical watch movement, with its red jewels and steel wheels. Eytan Brandes cast one of his old silver coins in 22 karat gold. It shows a beardless youth, possibly an early emperor (most of them wore beards after 117AD), as suggested by the diadem tied at the back of his neck.
No clue about the image on the back. With the lettering oriented north (and upside down), you can maybe see the neck of a horned animal, but that might just be us seeing things in a Rorschach test.
To frame this little homage to ancient commerce, Eytan crafted a platinum frame with four prongs on each side.
The pyrite chain, which we made specifically for this pendant, has a 14 karat white gold lobster closure.*

This new ring by Eytan Brandes is a design he made for one of our long-time customers in platinum with diamonds as an engagement ring. He made an extra copy in 18 karat gold because he wanted a nice setting for a yellow sapphire he's had for several years.
Prior to setting the stone, we had it certified by GIA, which confirmed the weight and dimensions, as well as the origin (Sri Lanka). Most important, the report confirms the stone hasn't been subjected to beryllium diffusion, which is the current scourge of the sapphire and ruby trade. The stone has been heated, which is customary and creates permanent improvement in the stone's color, but it has not been filled, chemically altered, or otherwise augmented in any way.
The sapphire's intense golden yellow really sparkles thanks to a nice mixed cut (brilliant cut faceting on the crown and step cut faceting on the pavilion). The tiny blue sapphires (totaling less than 0.06 carats), set in little "leaves" on the sides, present some nice unexpected contrast.
The band is slender and carinated (i.e., knife-edged), so it's actually thicker (1.8mm) than it is wide (1.6mm).
A very striking, comfortable ring, in rich 18 karat yellow gold. The total ring weight is 3.9 grams.
