Valentin Magro Jewelry

Rich colors and whimsical shapes informed by nature have become hallmarks of jewelry designer Valentin Magro’s signature style. Prior to establishing his eponymous brand in 1980, jewelry design was a hobby for the Malta-born Magro. Today, he is known for his attention to detail and dedicated passion to creating exceptional earrings, necklaces, rings and other adornments for jewelry lovers everywhere.

After turning 18, Magro moved to the United States from his native island, which is positioned between North Africa and Sicily. He initially pursued a degree in architecture, as jewelry design was little more than a craft he honed in his spare time. Eventually, his hobby became a full-time endeavor — Magro secured work at a range of luxury houses over time, including Tiffany Co., Harry Winston and David Webb, where he gained the professional experience to build a career out of jewelry design.

After settling in New York City, Magro continued to challenge himself to grow as a jeweler. By taking night classes as well as consulting other masters in the field including Harry Winston’s Ambaji Shinde and Ron McNamer — a designer at Tiffany and Zolotas — Magro’s depth of knowledge grew. He graduated from the Gemological Institute of America and spent years immersed in the techniques of master jewelers. Magro eventually established his own studio in Manhattan, where he has been handcrafting bespoke pieces for clients as well as innovative collections for retail since the late 20th century.
