FIDU technology means that two ultra-thin steel sheets are welded together around their edges and inflated under high pressure to give a 3d object. FIDU enables mass production of individualized shapes. Forms made in FIDU are very light but also very durable. Tafla collection is a radical step towards such transformations. Mirrors made with FiDU technology are a result of free deformation caused by high internal pressure. This process creates objects of great durability yet of subtle structure.

About the artist/ designer:
Oskar Zieta – an architect, designer, artist and innovator. Born in 1975, after he graduated architecture at Szczecin University of Technology in 2000, he has got a scholarship at ETH Zurich. Over the course of 2 years of postgraduate studies he developed skills in parametric design and modern manufacturing technologies finalized with PhD graduation. Currently he runs the department of industrial design at School of Form. Laureate of many prestigious awards in design and technology. Inventor of FiDU - inner pressure metal forming technology - the keystone to Zieta Collection, Zieta Out of Ordinary as well as large scale sculptures like NAWA on Daliowa Island in Wroclaw and WIR in Galeria Pólnocna in Wroclaw.

Two laser-cut metal sheets are first welded together before air is injected between them until they separate from each other forming a three-dimensional object.
