An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Asian sterling silver candlesticks; an addition to our Asian silverware collection. These exceptional antique Asian sterling silver candlesticks have a square form. The plain cylindrical capitals of these exceptional examples of antique 1890s silverware are fitted with fixed square sconces ornamented with a simplistic lobed design to the rim. The capitals are supported by impressive Aztec totem pole style columns, embellished with chased decorated offset cuboid segments. The lower portion of the cuboid column is plain and unembellished. The swept square foot of each candlestick is further embellished with chased stylised gadroon decoration. These exceptional silver candlesticks do not have weighted bases. These candlesticks have been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as sterling silver. Condition These antique Asian silver...

Georgian Sterling Silver Column Candlesticks (1803)

A magnificent, exceptional, fine and impressive, pair of large antique Georgian English sterling silver architectural column candlesticks; part of our ornamental silverware collection. These magnificent antique Georgian English sterling silver candlesticks have a plain subtly tapering columnar form. The large and impressive Corinthian capital of each candlestick retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce ornamented with a plain moulded rim. The cylindrical columns are supported by a cuboid plinth to an impressive plain square stepped three tier base. Each plinth is embellished with a fine and impressive bright cut engraved coat of arms depicting the Head family coat of arms encircled with a belt accented with the family motto 'Study Quiet'. The bases retain the original contemporary engraved inscription 'A token of respect from Francis Head to her aunt Dame Mary Ann Head. 1803' to the lowest tier. Both candlesticks are fitted with turned mahogany bases to the underside. These magnificent Georgian candlesticks were crafted by George Eadon, George Kibbles & John Weaver of George Eadon & Co. The title ‘Dame’ was the traditional style for the wife of a baronet at this time and before although it was interchangeable with the title ‘Lady’. Condition These antique Georgian candlesticks...

A magnificent, fine and impressive, rare pair of antique Danish sterling silver two light Pomegranate pattern candelabra made by Georg Jensen; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection These magnificent and rare antique Danish cast sterling silver candelabra have a circular bulbous form, in the Pomegranate pattern. The surface of each exceptional example of antique silverware has a subtly planished finish. Each impressive two light candelabrum retains the original hallmarked scrolling arms, supporting two rounded organic-shaped baluster capitals with plain circular dished drip pans. The scrolling arms of each candelabra incorporate magnificent scrolling leaf and bead decoration, all in the Arts and Crafts style. The plain bulbous columns surmount a plain circular foot, accented with a petal decorated border to the junction. The bases of these magnificent cast candelabra are not weighted. The hallmarks struck to the underside and one of arm of each include: Maker's mark: Georg Jensen (these marks were used between 1925-1932) Designer's mark: GI (Georg Jensen) Silver quality/purity mark: Sterling, 925, S (925/1000) Country mark: Denmark Importer's mark: GS (Stockwell & Co (George Stockwell)) Import hallmark: London Import date mark: q (1931) Such examples struck with full London import hallmarks are rare to the market.
