Stag 8 Drawer Chest of Drawers John & Sylvia Reid – 1960s Vintage Furniture (Sussex, England) Designed by John and Sylvia Reid. Stag 8 Drawer Chest of Drawers John & Sylvia Reid is for lovers of mid-century modern furniture. This Stag 8 Drawer Chest of Drawers is an exceptional find.. Dating back to the 1960s, this vintage STAG Teak Chest of Drawers showcases the timeless craftsmanship of Stag Furniture, a British brand renowned for its high-quality, stylish, and functional designs. With clean lines, warm teak tones, and practical storage, this piece embodies the essence of Scandinavian-inspired mid-century design, making it a fantastic addition to any retro, vintage, or modern interior. 1960s Stag teak chest of drawers - Quality & Condition This original Stag 8 Drawer Chest of Drawers John & Sylvia Reid is in good used condition, with all eight drawers smoothly sliding on their runners. Constructed with dovetail joints, the drawers offer durability and longevity, ensuring this classic piece remains functional and stylish for years to come. The interiors are clean and tidy, ideal for storing clothing, accessories, or household essentials. To preserve the Stag 8 Drawer Chest of Drawers John & Sylvia Reid with its authentic character, we have cleaned and applied a natural beeswax polish to the exterior surfaces. However, we have left the original finish untouched, meaning there are some signs of wear and tear consistent with age and use. The handles show light wear, but they remain structurally sound. The drawer fronts have minor superficial marks, but nothing significant to detract from the overall appearance. The top surface has some scuffs and marks, typical of a piece of this age—please refer to the photos for a detailed look. Overall, this mid-century STAG Teak Chest of Drawers is in well-preserved condition, retaining its rich patina and character while remaining fully functional. 1960s Stag teak chest of drawers - Authenticity & Design This Vintage teak chest of drawers features the original Stag label, found in the top left drawer, confirming its authenticity. Vintage pair of Donegal ireland watercolours by Frank Murphy
Located in Seaford, GB
Pair of Vintage Irish Donegal watercolours by Frank Murphy R.H.A., R.U.A. This pair of Vintage Irish Donegal watercolours by Frank Murphy R.H.A., R.U.A. captures the timeless beauty of the Irish landscape. Murphy, a celebrated artist, is renowned for his ability to bring the Donegal countryside to life with his watercolours. These two paintings are fine examples of his skill and deep connection to Irish rural life. First Watercolour: Thatched Farm Building The first painting depicts a traditional thatched farm building with the Donegal mountains in the background. The artist uses a soft watercolour wash technique to create a serene atmosphere. The muted tones of the land blend seamlessly with the details of the thatched roof, evoking a sense of peace. Murphy expertly highlights the contrast between the quiet farm and the imposing mountains. The artist’s signature is located in the lower left corner, with the mount inscribed, "nr Cresslough, Donegal." This specific location adds a personal touch, grounding the painting in a real place. Second Watercolour: Thatched Houses by the Sea The second Irish watercolour shows thatched houses by the sea, with the Donegal mountains rising in the background. The scene conveys the peacefulness of Donegal’s coastline. The calm sea and coastal thatched houses reflect the simplicity and beauty of rural Irish life. Murphy uses light and color to give life to the scene, drawing attention to the contrast between the sea and the homes. The donegal coastline is painted in soft blues and greens, capturing its natural beauty. The mountainous backdrop creates a striking balance, highlighting the ruggedness of the land. Key Features of Frank Murphy’s Work Thatched Buildings: A recurring theme in Murphy’s paintings, reflecting traditional Irish architecture. Donegal Landscape: Both pieces showcase the rugged beauty of Donegal’s mountains and coastline. French Riviera Mediterranean Harbour Scene
Located in Seaford, GB
Fabulous Midcentury South of France Mediterranean Harbour Scene – South Of France Mediterranean Oil Painting This exquisite South of France Mediterranean Oil Painting beautifully captures the essence of a South of France coastal scene, transporting viewers to a serene sun-drenched port where life moves at a relaxed, rhythmic pace. This vintage seaside artwork is a masterful portrayal of the picturesque fishing villages of the French Riviera, featuring azure blue waters, colourful boats, and rustic whitewashed buildings with terracotta rooftops. Whether displayed in a Sussex beach house, a contemporary living space, or a collector’s gallery, this artwork captures the warm, nostalgic charm of a bygone era. The artist expertly conveys the movement of the water, reflecting the brilliance of the sun and the soft dance of the ripples. Fishing nets, mooring ropes, and maritime gear are scattered along the quayside, suggesting a day’s work is completed, adding an element of authenticity and character to the composition. Beyond the boats, a charming row of Mediterranean buildings lines the harbour, their sun-bleached facades glowing in warm ochres, soft creams, and earthy oranges. The artist has captured the laid-back atmosphere of a French coastal town, making this painting an inviting French Riviera wall art piece that radiates warmth and nostalgia. Seaside Village Life – A Celebration of Mediterranean Culture On the quayside, villagers and fishermen are depicted through loose yet expressive brushstrokes, illustrating the bustling yet peaceful rhythm of daily Mediterranean life. Whether mending nets, chatting along the harbour, or preparing to set sail, the figures add a dynamic yet harmonious element to the scene, embodying the spirit of French coastal living. The inclusion of palm trees, sun-drenched stone streets, and lush greenery enhances the atmosphere, reinforcing the idyllic charm of this vintage seascape painting...

Georgian Mahogany Wine Cooler / Cellarette
Located in Seaford, GB
Large George III Mahogany Cellarette / Wine Cooler – 18th Century Antique from Sussex 📜 Provenance – George III Mahogany Sarcophagus Cellarette, England, circa 1800 Sourced from a distinguished Sussex estate with longstanding ties to the Georgian period, this exceptional late 18th-century cellarette embodies the refined tastes of Regency-era English domestic design. Crafted circa 1800, the piece showcases rich, figured mahogany with a deep, lustrous patina developed over two centuries of continuous care and ceremonial use. This cellarette was likely commissioned as part of a broader dining suite, intended to hold wines or spirits with both grandeur and discretion. Its form — inspired by Roman sarcophagi — reflects the classical influences prevalent in George III design. The original interior tin lining remains intact, a rare feature that underscores its authenticity and historical integrity. Elevated on its original tapered legs and mounted with brass casters, the piece retains its original lion mask side handles, further articulating its status as a formal and functional object of significance. The substantial scale and sculptural quality allow it to serve equally as an antique wine cooler or statement console. Evidence of a professional period repair to the top is visible and has been conserved to museum standards without compromising structure or surface character. The patina and minor wear are consistent with age and commensurate with a legacy object of this period. This cellarette is not only an elegant storage solution but a collector's item of enduring design merit — ideal for connoisseurs of English Georgian furniture, fine wine enthusiasts, or interior designers seeking a historically anchored, investment-grade focal piece. Australian Sydney Harbour Bridge design Painting 1932
By Douglas Annand
Located in Seaford, GB
Sydney Harbour poster Sydney Harbour Bridge poster design Attributed to Douglas Annand in our opinion, this was an original drawing for the 1932 poster competition. In 1932, the poster competition committee asked Douglas Annand and Arthur Whitmore to collaborate together to produce the now-famous 19th March 1932 poster. There are clear similarities between ours and the collaborative poster. Our design clearly shows more of an Art Deco and feminine design, as opposed to the more masculine, collaborative Sydney Harbour Bridge poster design. Our drawing is Gouache on paper laid down on the artist's board. The drawing is in the original frame and mount, dated March 1932 and is unsigned. BIOGRAPHY Douglas Shenton Annand (1903-1976), graphic designer and artist, was born on 22 March 1903 at Toowoomba, Queensland, the third child of Frederick William Gadsby Annand, accountant, and his wife Helen Alice, née Robinson, both Queenslanders. Having taken the commercial course at the Central Technical College, Brisbane, in 1920, Douglas j...

19th century Danish BlackSmiths Forge by Edvard Petersen
Located in Seaford, GB
Atmospheric Blacksmith Forge Interior by Edvard Petersen signed by monogram This magnificent late 19th-century painting of an atmospheric blacksmith forge interior is by the renowned realist Danish painter Edvard Petersen. Depicting a richly detailed industrial workshop scene, it is a remarkable example of Danish realism. As an authentic Edvard Petersen painting, it showcases the artist’s dedication to portraying the lives of craftsmen and workers in the late 1800s. If you are an art collector or enthusiast seeking to purchase an original blacksmith interior artwork, this vintage realism painting not only holds artistic value but also represents an essential piece of Danish heritage art. Below, we explore the painting’s intricate details, its historical context, and Edvard Petersen's life. 1. Artwork Overview: A Glimpse into the Industrial Past This vintage painting of a blacksmith’s forge reflects the hardworking spirit of the late 19th century. The atmospheric industrial art is meticulously rendered with a keen eye for lighting, texture, and realism. Key aspects of this Danish blacksmith workshop artwork include: Industrial Setting: The painting captures the interior of a blacksmith workshop, filled with well-used tools and the dim glow of the forge. Lighting Mastery: The late 19th-century atmospheric blacksmith interior is defined by its masterful use of light and shadow. The forge fire creates a vivid, warm glow, contrasting with the cooler daylight filtering through a window. Human Element: The blacksmith figures appear in dynamic postures, emphasising the laborious nature of their craft. The workers’ silhouettes against the glow of the fire add depth and dimension. Textural Details: The texture of worn wood, metal tools, and stone flooring is painstakingly realistic, typical of Edvard Petersen’s style. 2. Artistic Style and Techniques A. Realism and Atmosphere As a prominent Danish realist painting, this work exemplifies the realist tradition for which Petersen is known. His choice of subdued, earthy tones highlights the authentic industrial atmosphere. The blend of warm, fiery hues with darker, shadowy tones creates a dramatic and contemplative mood. B. Composition and Structure The composition follows a well-organised structure, with: Foreground Elements: Anvil, tools, and a large wooden barrel.
