This handsome Victorian Holbeinesque pendant comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. Holbeinesque is a term used to describe Victorian jewellery that was made in the style of the Renaissance, particularly inspired by the Northern Renaissance and the paintings of Hans Holbein. Holbein himself produced sketches of the jewellery worn at the Tudor court, and the sketches were used as reference points by Victorian jewellery designers and craftsmen. This pendant is a spectacular example of this style, featuring colourful green and red enamel, verdant emeralds, lustrous pearls, and dazzling diamonds. This diadem is made from bright yellow gold in which is set seven glowing orange cabochon-cut coral stones within carved gold discs. An Edwardian pair of pearl and diamond earrings, each earring consisting of a pearl, accompanied by GCS report stating to be natural saltwater, measuring approximately 4.5mm, surrounded by ten transition-cut diamonds, suspended by a chain set with two larger transition-cut diamonds, total diamond weight approximately 1.40 carats, all fine millegrain-set in platinum, fitted with 9ct gold screw fittings, circa 1915, measuring approximately 2.9 x 1cm, gross weight 3.2 grams.
