Possibly used by Chinese aristocrats, these rosewood armchairs delight our eyes with their richly carved structures. Each back is adorned with a skillfully executed décor of foliage, birds and fruits, surrounding a central marble inlaid splat. The foliage motifs are subtly reprised on the open arms in a curling dance. The rectangular framed seat is resting on four cabriole legs, visually connected to one another through a scalloped apron present on three sides. The doors, made of slightly raised panels in their lower section, are fitted with ornate brass hardware: the medallion is pierced and etched and supports delicate pulls. These doors open to reveal a lacquered interior with hidden drawers at the top. The cabinet's sides presents recessed panels and the back is simply planked.
