WOW! THIS IS IT! The famous wildly modern Rembrandt lamp featured in the 1960 Twilight Zone episode "Third From The Sun". In this the 14th episode of Rod Serling's Sci-Fi masterpiece two scientists plan to escape their doomed world which is about to have a nuclear war.
This modernist Rembrandt lamp was used in the lead character's home, right next to some modern art, to help present an otherworldly & futuristic decor. The viewers don't know that this world is not Earth until the end of the show, but the futuristic decor, unusual camera angles and unusual vehicle sounds were subtle hints!
A timeless part of television history and a coup for Rembrandt lamp designers to be chosen to depict the most advanced lamp design!
This lamp was expensive new and production was never as high as their lesser quality competition. The result is that now these lamps are becoming impossible finds. The few owners privileged enough to own one never let them go. They are far too cool!
Now that brash mid century optimism and outrageousness makes them even more wonderful than when they were new!
This one is in very fine vintage condition with all the expected patina and minor blemishes time takes on metal, glass, wood and enamel. The fabric lamp shade with its gold foil textured lining is lost technology that would be impossible to reproduce today at any price and is also in very fine vintage condition. This showpiece lamp features a giant "Mogul" socket which was used in most floor lamps and large table lamps prior to 1955, One will be provided with the lamp, and they are still available.
It truly is a modern miracle to find this tall 39" monumental lamp! Displays beautifully! If you've ever wanted to have otherworldly decor in your interiors - this is your opportunity! If you haven't seen the episode, it is a must watch...

This marvelous lotus themed lamp with sculptured metal flowers and leaves in a metal container with a wood base. These are illuminated by a single socket on an adjustable "stem" permitting an inch or two adjustment of the magnificent glass shade which continues the floral theme!
The cameo glass shade is green hued when unlit, matching the metal sculptured lotus plant, but transforms to a lovely golden hue when lit, casting a carefully crafted "sunlight" upon the metal blossoms!
Absolutely marvelous in conception and execution!
This lamp is in fine vintage condition with incredible patina to the alloy. The metal was tailored in composition to create a more green-hued, brass alloy, fitting for the lotus leaves! Newer glass shade. Lamp wiring from the fifties, including cord with inline switch and socket.

Circa 1947-1950
At the very beginning of the Post-War Polynesian or South Pacific craze which took over America during the late forties and fifties, there were precious few importers of fine bamboo furnishings. John & Elinore McGuire set up shop in California to do just that and their works are legendary for quality and durabiity.
The time required to cut, soak, bend and shape bamboo into permanently sculpted forms was substantial and the exotic material was only available in quantity in the South Pacific.
This lamp is an extremely rare, early example of a Bamboo lamp done in Polynesian (later Tiki) style. You seldom see any of these lamps, because they were very scarce new and even fewer have survived the past 70 years since their manufacture. It was likely created & imported in very small numbers around 1950 and sold through an early importer such as McGuire. Many bamboo importers were direct-to-decorator importers who advertised in Interiors or House & Garden magazine.
The shape is based on the style of bamboo work used to create thatched huts and housing in the South Pacific islands - bamboo, cut, soaked and shaped and then tied with cane binding. This one has a double stacked oversized walnut base to provided stability to this enormous lamp...

These are some of the finest, rarest and most attractive Modeline of California lamps in existence! Strong, yet elegant lines and graceful curves adorn the aluminum accented body! These were featured in their 1958 advertisements as one of their best pieces.
Graceful decorative aluminum handles and necks make these incredible lamps even more special. Aluminum was the wonder metal and in 1958, when these lamps were made, manufacturers were all trying to feature the new "contemporary" aluminum!

This work is in very fine vintage condition. The steel has been gilt enameled in a splatter pattern to catch the light when the sun hits it, creating a very scintillating visual effect. Incredible labor went into this piece and it displays beautifully. It's really hard to find these iconic mid century metal sculptures...
