Round carved wooden box with its key - Beethoven profile medallion - 19th
Located in Beuzevillette, FR
Louis XVI style carved wooden jewelry treasure box. The wood is carved in relief with foliage decoration all around, and the profile of Beethoven is very nicely and finely carved on the lid,
This profile in a circle and the play of colors and textures of the wood gives a medallion in the taste of the bronze work of Jean Bertrand Andrieu.
The interior is in green silky fabric.
La Boite is also in the style of T. Hingre's bronze work. Louis-Théophile Hingre (sometimes known as Théophile Hingre) is a sculptor, modeler and medal engraver.
The wood of this pretty round box is beautifully and finely carved. Beethoven's profile like the scrolls are sculpted with great precision and delicacy.

French Art Nouveau Crystal Cup green and red flowers - 19th - France
By Baccarat
Located in Beuzevillette, FR
Magnificent fruit bowl, empty pocket, centerpiece, bowl, Art Nouveau in green crystal with red floral decoration in the Japanese taste.
The cup is enhanced with gold.
The crystal is acid etched.
Crystal work is wonderful. The cup seems to be attributed to Baccarat. It should be noted that Cristallerie Baccarat only engraved a signature on all productions from 1936. Which explains why this piece is not signed.
The shape of the cup is reminiscent of a flower opening its four petals. The design is very delicate and elegant.
In the style of Legras.

RIGAUD (after) - 19th Drawing signed Portrait of Marie Nemours Orleans - France
By Hyacinthe Rigaud 1
Located in Beuzevillette, FR
Superb, rare and large drawing representing a Portrait of Marie d'Orléans-Longueville, Duchess of Nemours, Princess of France.
The drawing is perfectly done. Wonderful work of light on the lace in particular which seems to come out of the painting thanks to its bluish tint. The shadow play is magnificent.
On thick marked paper.
Drawing Dated 1891 and signed.
The Signature is probably “Sieur Duval”.
Very good Made from the magnificent painting by Hyacinthe Rigaud (1659-1743), painter of the 18th century model dated 1707.
The engraver Pierre Drevet (1663-1738) also engraved this work.
The work is “Mary by the grace of God, sovereign of Neufchâtel and Vallangin, duchess of Nemours” / « Marie par la grâce de Dieu, souveraine de Neufchâtel et Vallangin, duchesse de Nemours »
Description of the work: Half-legged, seated, turned three-quarters to the left, looking straight on, the princess, whose left arm is folded across her chest, holds her crown placed on the table with her right hand. She is dressed in dark court attire, her head covered with a headdress whose tails are tied on the chest. A curtain and the base of a column constituting the second plan.
Marie de Nemours, born in 1625 and died on June 16, 1707, is sovereign princess of Neuchâtel and Valangin. Daughter of Henri II of Orléans-Longueville and Louise de Bourbon-Condé, Mademoiselle de Soissons, she was known until her marriage under the name Marie d'Orléans, Mademoiselle de Longueville.
Marie d'Orléans, only daughter of the Duke of Bourbon and Longueville, married Henri II of Savoy, last Duke of Nemours, in 1657. The court was surprised that the richest heiress in France agreed to marry this duke without possessions and without consideration, staid and boring. The Duke of Nemours suddenly fell ill and died on January 2, 1659. The Duchess of Nemours survived him for a long time. In 1694, she was recognized as sovereign of the principality of Neuchâtel and Vallangin (Switzerland), by the states of the country, to the exclusion of the Prince of Conti. She died in Paris on June 16, 1707, at the age of 82. Five months later, despite claims of misconduct by the suitors, the court of these same states awarded this small sovereignty to the King of Prussia. The Duchess of Nemours was said to be miserly and carefully hid her rank under cheap clothes. She was devout but suspicious and often changed her confessor. She left Memoirs, recognized to be remarkable for their accuracy, fidelity and charm of style.
Hyacinthe Rigaud, famous painter to King Louis XIV, was born in 1659 and died in 1743.
He was the major portraitist of the king and his Court at Versailles. Rigaud fixed for three centuries the image of the official portrait of European courts.
On the advice of Le Brun, he devoted himself to portraiture, a genre which he elevated to its highest expression. He attracted the attention of the king and the Court with the portrait of Monsieur...

Set of 6 Large Kakemonos Japanese Mythology, 19th Century Japan circa 1800 Edo
Located in Beuzevillette, FR
Beautiful set of 6 large kakemonos from 19th century Japanese mythology.
Paper support with a canvas pasted on the paper
Wonderful set that is part of Japan's history and beliefs
When not hung, the Kakemonos are rolled up.
circa 1800 - Japan - Edo Period
A kakemono translates as "object to hang". In Japan this refers to a painting or calligraphy, most often done on silk or paper framed in a scroll that was intended to be hung on walls or in public lighting. This particular form, which allows them to be in a roll, dates back to the Tang dynasty in China (this would be related to the copying and preservation of ancient Buddhist texts). A Kami is a deity or spirit worshipped in the Shinto religion. A Yokai is a spirit, ghost, demon, or strange apparition from the creatures of Japanese folklore.
Each of these kakemonos represents a unique story:
- A kami, a Japanese deity, is shown painting a rainbow. Indeed, he performs the action with his right hand while his left hand holds a kind of basket with three pots of paint. This kami has a rather closed attitude. He is standing in a dark and tormented sky. Below this figure, 8 villagers are dressed in traditional Japanese clothes. Their faces are softened. They are not afraid of the elements made by the kami above their heads.
- A character with an unreal look is holding a kind of jar with his two hands, which he spills on human figures above. This being is floating in the air, probably a character from mythology, perhaps Susanoo. Underneath, villagers on umbrellas. They are trying to protect themselves as best they can from what is falling on them. One of them is carrying baskets with fish on her shoulders. A character in the background is thrown forward and falls.
- On this kakemono, the god Raijin, dressed in a white and blue outfit, strikes the sky with his two drum hammers to create lightning and its thunderous sound. Surrounded by Tomoe and a long red scarf, Raijin, enraged and with dishevelled hair, creates a dark and violent storm. The villagers seem frightened by this meteorological phenomenon. One of the villagers can be seen fainting in the arms of a man. This scene may seem chaotic, but Japanese legend tells us that once a field is struck by lightning, the harvest is good.
- On this kakemono, we see an unreal-looking figure holding a fan, as if he were sweeping away the bad weather, or simply producing gusts of wind. He is probably the kami of wind and air, Shina tsu-hiko. The figures below him seem surprised by so much wind. An umbrella flies away on the left, the women hold their hair and scarf, the clothes are caught in the power of the wind, there is even a woman on the ground on the bottom left.
- This Kakemono represents a short moment. This Raiju is a yokai (ghost spirit...

France - circa 1800
The Louis XIV style is a furnishing style covering more or less the period of the reign of Louis XIV (1661 to 1715).

The style emerged with the advent of the reign of Louis XIV in 1661 and lasted until the end of the 17th century. In 1690, on the death of Lebrun, decorator to the King, the style declined and was gradually replaced by the Regency style.
The Palace of Versailles is obviously extremely and lastingly marked by the Louis XIV style. His long reign made it possible to impose the unique style of the Grand...
