Stoic and Soulfully Strong Women - All Women Composition Euphorbia -
By Dean Cornwell
Located in Miami, FL
One of Cornwell's hallmarks is that he paints stoically soulful faces that express the subject's trials and hardships. In this only-woman composition, he depicts a scene of two women who are strong, unafraid, and self-confident and can weather the storm despite the challenges. In this regard, it is similar to "A Strange Sound Drifted Down to Kit from the Top of the Range—A Man’s Voice, Singing" by Cornwell, which sold at Christie's USD $163,800 on 18 Apr 2024.
Caption: "Are you making little things?" questioned Lucy. 'No ,' said Marge. 'If this one happens to live, there will be many long years ahead of us for that."

More than 20 beautifully rendered post-impressionist portraits in character, define Dean Cornwell as one of America's great artists. In his time, he was a famous as Norman Rockwell and was Norman Rockwell's favorite illustrator. "One thing puzzled Dirty Dan extremely. That was the perfectly frank, friendly manner in which his employer and this outcast woman greeted each other, the earnestness with which they conversed, and the effect of the woman's low-spoken words upon the color of Hector McKaye's face."

Prospector firing Rifle ( Happiness is a Warm Gun ) Gay Art
By Robert Riggs
Located in Miami, FL
Tempera mixed with gum arabic and alcohol on Renaissance Panel ( composite wood panel )
Robert Riggs was a gay man. Being gay in American during the 1940's time was something not to flaunt in public. Rigg's had to communicate his underlying feelings in more symbolic ways.
Throughout Riggs' oeuvre, one sees continuous references to strong hunked out manly men and vulnerable boys. It is a core element of is iconography and is described in a powerful graphic style.
In “Prospector firing Rifle,” there is a Dick Pic. Riggs is clearly making a sexual statement about the moment of climax. The long, straight rifle explodes and is captured at the moment of its peak climax. Meanwhile, the two bags of gold clearly resemble the other part of the male anatomy. Riggs was a thoughtful and meticulous visual thinker, and nothing in any of Riggs’s compositions was haphazardly placed. In tribute to the artist’s suppressed feelings, I have given this work a second title “Happiness is a Warm Gun...

Playboy cartoon Illustration, "For Posing, My Terms Are a Dollar an Hour, Room
By Richard Taylor
Located in Miami, FL
Put aside Richard Taylor's dry wit. Look at his masterfully rendered figures and brilliantly constructed compositions based on a two-point perspective. Clearly, he is an underrated and overlooked talent in the class of Charles Addams. Above all, Taylor, with his heavely-lidded-eyed figure, has a style of his own. An artist who has an instantly recognized style - unique to him/her is a rarity in today's artworld of derivative artists.

Champagne for the Honeymoon
By Pruett Alexander Carter
Located in Miami, FL
Pruett Carter captures the quintessential look of the 1950's in this loosely rendered but charming work for Redbook. Bright, punchy colors define each object and are arranged in a simplified but complex composition of intersecting and overlapping planes of color.
The double portrait of the girl expresses a peak moment of introspection. She ponders her situation while preparing to get dressed for her special occasion. The whole scene is imbued with suspense about her future. Carter is a great academic painter. With just a few light touches of the brush, he quickly defines the form of the subject and achieves the X factor of the work. The profile and frontal view of the girl clearly are the same person. He nails her look. This is hard to do. Do not underestimate it. Sadly, there is a reason why there are very few contemporary artists can actually paint and draw without tracing photographs or resort to naive painting. It's hard to do. It's hard to be a painter. You can not fake...
