Created by hand between 1910-1920, this 21" strand of natural, untreated, Burmese jadeite jade possesses an ethereal, luminous beauty. Though they have been classified as "pale green to near colorless" in the gem lab report, each bead is has its own subtle tone. True, from a distance the beads read as white. But then, step into the shadows and their subtle tones are liberated. The tones are there in the light, too: it's just that sometimes looking isn't enough; you need to look but you also need to see.
I think this is a spectacular strand for the subtlety of the tone and the quality of translucence. I've used low light to shoot them, so that you can see how gorgeous they are i the lowest of light.

Chinese Antique Qing Carved "Mutton Fat" Nephrite Plaque Pendant Certified

Elegant, rare, and dating to the late Qing period (circa 1890s), this hand-carved nearly colorless white nephrite plaque has been etched on both sides. One one, the Chinese mythological figure known as Zhang Guo Lao is depicted riding a mule. On the opposite side, a magpie sits on a branch of cherry blossoms. The magpie is associated with intelligence. The carving is breathlessly simple and excellent; the work executed -of course- without the aid of electricity or modern tools.
Measuring 42.54mm x 29.92mm, the plaque has a hole drilled through the center, which is original to the piece. A silver bail is threaded through the hole and a pair of beads -black jade and coral- reside at the bottom. The jade plaque hands from a 1920s silver chain that is 32" in length.

This extraordinary ring was hand-carved from a single piece or natural and untreated GIA-Certified Burmese jadeite jade. The translucent stone is purple with a hint of light green. Click on the image of the GIA certificate and you will see that it does not describe the color as "lavender" but rather "purple." Making this ring all the more rare. The stone is luminous and absolutely gorgeous in all light; whether direct sunlight or the soft, low light of evening when the ring seems to glow from within.
This is a large, substantial ring that was created for a size 10 ¼ - 10 ½ finger. Because the ring is thick, it's not possible to get a perfect reading on my ring mandrel, but if your finger is anywhere from a size 9 ½ (like mine) or a 10 ½, it should fit (though with a 9 ½ finger, the ring will have much more play). If your finger is smaller, your jeweler can create an insert liner from gold, silver or any metal you like and this will allow the ring to fit a much smaller finger -it just depends on how thick the liner is. This would be a project for you and your own local jeweler.

This is a stunning vintage pearl necklace measuring 18 inches in length and composed of 55 9mm-9.4mm round cultured Akoya pearls and finished with an 18K white gold beaded ball clasp which glitters with a multitude of small full-cut diamonds that total approximately .50 carats. The necklace was purchased in the United Kingdom but bears no hallmarks. It's very well-made and remains on its original silk, which still appears sturdy. I believe the necklace dates to the 1980s.
Cultured Akoya pearls over 8mm in diameter are the most coveted of all Akoya pearls because fine ones are difficult to achieve. The longer a pearl remains inside the oyster the thicker the nacre and larger it grows but the greater the opportunity for any number of variables to come along and spoil the pearl. These large 9-9.4mm pearls are luminous and stunning: they are creamy-white with a soft pink overtone. The pearls possess a nice, sharp shine.
