Pixie Willoughby artist with Wychwood Art. Born in Lincolnshire in 1972, Pixie qualified from Lancaster University in 1994, with BA hons QTS in English Literature and Theatre Studies. For the next 26 years, she taught primary aged children in schools located in the UK, Portugal and Thailand. Whilst teaching in Thailand, Pixie developed her love and interest in art. In 2012, she was commissioned to paint 99 paintings for the bedrooms of a hotel in Pattaya, Thailand. Following this success, Pixie retired from teaching and returned to the UK to focus full time on her art. When Pixie is not painting, she is training for triathlons. Having completed an Ironman in 2018, this has fuelled her belief that anything is possible. "I believe art is creation. It's in the rustling trees, it's in the air we breathe, it's in the songs we sing, it's in everything. I am proud of my art as it has a voice. It speaks to me, it speaks for me. It reveals my heart and my soul. I hope my art speaks to others too. That it comforts and confronts, that it challenges and questions, that it demands all and nothing. My art is my books, my music, my history and the history of others.

Kelly Washbourne, contemporary painter, available online and in our gallery at Wychwood Art. Kelly Washbourne’s work is of immeasurable depth, texture and colour. Every canvas represents its own journey as paint is layered and balanced to create exquisite colour relationships, provoking both thought and emotion. Taking months to complete, each piece becomes an evolving record of the painting process offering glimpses into the hidden history of its creation. She is known for the bold expression of her large pieces which are full of texture, energy and vibrancy. Her small canvases, which have become popular exhibited in grids, offer an endless variety of shades and brush strokes and create a unique artwork with every composition. Graduating from Falmouth University in 2002 with a BA Hons in Fine Art, Kelly finds her inspiration in the freedom, bravery and liberty of The New York School artists. Expressionists of the 1940s and 50s such as Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning and Helen Frankenthaler incite confidence in her use of paint. Artwork by expressionist artist Haz Chomley is available online and in our gallery at Wychwood Art. Haz is a London-based expressionist artist who plays with bold colours and texture to create her abstract pieces. After studying Fashion Design and learning print-making, colour theory, illustration, life drawing, garment construction and so much more, Haz continued to explore the way shapes and colour interact and began creating and selling her artworks. Haz is a self-taught artist with two distinct styles which have been crafted over years of dedication to her practice. The act of painting is extremely meditative and allows a heightened state of presence and flow in which she finds extremely calming and serene. Her pieces are made with surroundings in mind, she is always thinking about how art relates to space and how the feelings it evokes in those environments.

Discover new paintings by Jon Rowland and his abstract expressionism with Wychwood Art. Each work has been carefully selected by Deborah Allan our Chief Art Curator. Wychwood Art have exhibited Jon Rowland in London during a pop-up exhibition of theirs at the Darren Baker Gallery. His paintings have been displayed at the Royal Academy and at the Berthold and Darren Baker Gallery in London. He has also exhibited in group exhibitions at Linacre and Green Colleges, at Swann Gallery in Woodstock, and with Wychwood Art at Battersea Art Fair. He was one of six contemporary artists who took part in an exhibition of views of Blenheim Palace, juxtaposing the original visions with today's, as part of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Capability Brown's birth. Solo exhibitions have been at the Said Business School, Wolfson College in Central Oxford, and most recently at the Sewell Centre Art Gallery and Cornerstone Art Centre in Oxfordshire, and the Boiler Room Gallery in Central Oxford. Through Wychwood Art, he has carried out several large scale commissions for private clients. Jon comments: Painting is a journey. One starts at one place - the blank canvas, and hopefully ends at a resolution. Sometimes one gets lost. My aim in this journey is to create original, contemporary art that is grounded in place. Chance and opportunity are the travelling companions; but the art is to know when the journey is complete.
