Combined with the new fashion movements that relied on the use of vivid color, inspiration from Japanese dress fit this aesthetic. The traditional Japanese kimono, often featuring vivid yet pastel hues and floral embroidery is reimaged in this vintage recreation. Done in silk, this garment showcases an avian motif with tones of blush, red-orange, cornflower, green, and gold with oriental styled clouds in the background. This motif is bordered by panels of solid fuchsia. There are no fastenings or lapels so this is a type of swing jacket which clings and hugs the body. With all-over copper sequinned embellishment, there is a small padded insert to the puff sleeved shoulder with tapered sleeves toward the cuff. Lined in a corresponding copper polyester jersey. This piece really belongs in a serious collection or museum and is just as wearable today as it was over 50 years ago.
