Chinese Qing Dynasty 19th Century Official
s Wife Painting on Linen Canvas
Located in Yonkers, NY
A Chinese Qing Dynasty period framed painting from the 19th century of an official's wife with bird-adorned buzi, painted on a linen canvas. Created in the North-Eastern province of Shanxi during the Qing dynasty, this 19th century painting showcases a frontal depiction of an official's wife recognizable thanks to the bird-themed rank badge sitting on an elegant armchair with scrolling arms and carved apron. Wearing a red robe and topped with an ornate headdress, the figure is highlighted with gold foil accents and stands out beautifully on a linen canvas. The print size is 17.5"W x 41.5"H. These paintings traditionally come from Shanxi province which was home to many of the wealthy merchant families associated with the imperial court during the Qing dynasty. Crows and Pines
A pair of six-panel Japanese Screens. Ink and gold leaf on paper.
Dimensions: Each Screen: H. 170.5 cm x W. 375 cm
Haha-cho or mynah birds, whose forms resemble crows in artwork, were commonly depicted in Japanese art. These types of paintings were originally modeled on paintings attributed to the 13th century Chinese painter Muqi (Mokkei), whose art was enormously influential in Japan. Crows only became a theme among Japanese artists from the later 1500s onward. They likely were inspired by these imported Chinese paintings of myna birds, which are not native to Japan, substituting the native species of crow instead.
The best known early examples of the depiction of Japanese crows are two Momoyama screen...

Located in Yonkers, NY
A Qing Dynasty fretwork four-panel screen with geometric motifs and floral accents. This late Qing Dynasty period fretwork four-panel screen, crafted in the early 20th century, offers a harmonious blend of geometric precision and floral delicacy. Each of the four vertical wooden panels is adorned with meticulously arranged pierced geometric motifs, gracefully punctuated by delicate floral accents. The composition is framed by raised panels at the top and bottom, adding an element of depth and sophistication to the piece. The screen's warm honey-colored patina enhances the intricacy of the fretwork, creating a subtle yet captivating visual effect.

Position it as an elegant room divider in a spacious living room, or use it as a decorative accent against a wall to draw the eye and add depth to the room.
