Crater Vase I by Kate Butler
Located in Geneve, CH
Crater vase I by Kate Butler Dimensions: W17.8 x D26.7 x H24.1 cm Materials: Hand sculpted, glazed pottery Kate Butler is a writer and artist working primarily in drawing and ceramic clay. Her sculptures describe subliminal experiences of space through forms that feel alive and vaguely human. In 2019, she earned an MFA Fine Arts and MS Art History from the Pratt Institute, pursuing both a rigorous studio practice and original research on ceramic sculptor Stanley Rosen. Before attending Pratt, Kate studied and apprenticed at the Marchutz School of Fine Arts, a “school of vision,” based in Aix-en-Provence, France, that integrated the study of plein-air painting with seminars in art criticism. Since graduating from Pratt, Kate has participated in residencies at Odyssey Clayworks and Anderson...

Museum Quality Pre-Columbian Gold Twin Figures Pendant, circa 800 to 1500 AD
Located in San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon
Southern Costa Rica/Western Panama, circa 800 to 1500 AD. Gold Veraguas-Chiriqui-Diquis twin figure pendant cast by the lost-wax (cire perdu) grasping an imaginary club with their claws, with bat ears and pop out eyes and each figure ending in the shape of a jaguar tooth, symbolizing the power of the jaguar and the ability to see in the dark; The casting process did not go entirely smoothly. Part of his mold, on the side of the proper right figure (viewer's left side), did not fill with metal. The Pre-Columbian goldsmith carried out a superb repair, probably making a wax patch and pouring gate on the gold pendant, then enclosing it in a new mold and pouring in more metal. The patch is hardly visible on the outside. A modern goldsmith, who cannot do it as well, would use his gas torch to solder on a patch. The gold is of such high grade or karat, possibly unalloyed native gold...

Asymmetrical Carved Ceramic Vase Organic Modern, Nicaragua Art Pottery
Located in Clifton Springs, NY
Unusual asymmetrical ceramic vase with partially rounded and partially dimpled body is decorated with carved abstract repeating geometric designs that help accentuate the complex, free-formed shape of the piece. Reserved, earthy dark caramel and chocolate brown palette lets hand carved, highly detailed, richly textured pattern to take center stage. The patterns follow the shape of the vase, hugging its curvature and guiding the eye along its lines; the base and the top of the vase are accentuated with solid chocolate brown glaze with incised concentric details. The vase is unsigned; in a separate listing we are offering a vase done in similar style and technique by Roger Calero, a renowned Nicaraguan ceramic artist. This vase could be attributed to the same artist, or it could be created by another Nicaraguan art...
