This Door Handle was meticulously handmade by master artisans one piece at a time. It is therefore quite difficult, if not impossible to make identical items. The brass casting is produced by formation of a mold from a mixture of sand and the liquid alloy of copper and zinc.
The projects are based on a contemporary appropriation of traditional methods from Brazilian artisans and reinterpreted through the integration of new forms and noble materials. An aesthetic infused with “beauty of imperfection" is obtained by the expressive potential of each material, generating works that recall nature and rationality.

Since graduating with an industrial design degree from the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, Zhipeng Tan has focused on the ancient technique of lost-wax casting. Through this foundry process, rich in heritage and tradition, Tan explores his interest in organic forms. Often inspired by his environmental surroundings, such as water and plants, he explores anthropomorphic themes, as well. Though trained as an industrial designer, he has become an accomplished self-taught sculptor, eagerly exploring the elastic and permeable boundaries between art and design and finding a harmonious fusion of sculpture and furniture, provocative objects of both beauty and utility.
Though from his early work, one may sense the influence of Joan Miró, Henry Moore and Constantin Brancusi, and in his more recent pieces there is a nod to the Post-Pop sensibilities of Jeff Koons and Takashi Murakami, the work of Zhipeng Tan is thoroughly original, an expression of his exuberance and imagination. Tom Ford then brings her into his Team in 1998, prior to honing her skills further for Valentino & Moncler Gamme Rouge working with Alessandra Facchinetti who she meets at Gucci. In 2012 she moves to New York City and works for Calvin Klein Collection as VP Creative Product Development.
She decides in 2018 to reconnect with her creative side. She was drawn to the bold arrangement of flowers combining her remarkable eye for beauty and her uncanny attention to details now highly refined from her work for Couture collections. Marcella is inspired to explore more enduring ways embody and embolden fresh arrangements, and reinvents herself as The Art Flower Maker, where her ephemeral creations are permanently captured through both photography and sculpture.
