An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of contemporary sterling silver African animal themed coasters made by Patrick Mavos; an addition to our range of collectable silverware. These exceptional contemporary cast sterling silver wine coasters have a circular rounded shaped form. The body of each coaster is embellished with an exceptional array of conjoined hippopotamus designs*, ranging in stances; the interior surface of this animal themed border bears details enhancing the anatomical features. These exceptional examples of animal related silverware retain the original fabric covering to the underside. The hallmarks struck to the rim of these coasters include: Maker's mark: PM (Patrick Mavos). Maker's mark: Sable antelope head within a triangle (sterling). Date letter: b, 2000 Patrick Mavos describes a hippopotamus as Africa's 'river horses' which are the very picture of peace and contentment. This brand has over forty years of experience creating high quality African inspired, family designs and unique heirlooms. These antique silver labels or tickets are further ornamented with a bright cut engraved and pin struck ribbon bow designs accented with suspended leaf festoons. The body of each label is engraved with the individual wine or spirit: 'Port', 'Geneva', 'Claret', 'Rum' and 'Madeira'. These Georgian silver bottle labels are suspended by two ring loops to the corners of the urn designs and connected by silver round link chains. The body of this silver goblet is embellished with bright cut engraved foliate and floral festoons suspended from ribbon bow motifs. The upper portion of this sterling silver goblet is encompassed with bright cut engraved layered leaf decorated border. The foot is ornamented with further bright cut engraved simplified leaf decorated border, reflecting the design to the rim. Condition This antique Victorian silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
