Waves No 370, a Unique orange
celadon Handblown Glass Bowl by Neil Wilkin
By Neil Wilkin
Located in London, GB
'Waves No 370' is a beautifully crafted, handblown glass bowl by the British artist, Neil Wilkin.
'Waves' is a collection of beautifully crafted, unique glass bowls and centrepieces by the British artist Neil Wilkin. Taking a painterly approach, Neil Wilkin merges his colours to create a larger palette of soft hues. Utilising both transparent and opaque glass adds to the soft aesthetic of each piece adding an ethereal effect.
Since graduating in 1981, Neil Wilkin has used his skills to produce exquisite, luxury glass from his workshop. Clients from every sector include individuals, interior designers, property developers, architects etc. Companies include -Thomas Goode, The Grove, Asprey, Liberty, Cunard, Disney, Grosvenor Estate and Four Seasons. His specialist restoration skills earned him coveted commissions including the ‘blanks’ for the Royal Windsor Castle fire damaged chandeliers and speciality working with international artists to make their own artworks.
Is his own words:
‘As a child I wanted to be a geologist. My father introduced me to materials and science by bringing home as many different elements as he could and I remember shiny metals, black carbon and vivid yellow sulphur.
The geology beneath our feet shapes and colours our environment in every way. From the rusty iron of the red Australian outback, to the sunshine on the ground which drives our weather, not least the rain in the verdant Welsh hills where the folded rocks turn everything upside down, and we have a pool at the top of the hill.
It was colour and heat that first pulled me towards the furnace at college. I had gone to work with my hands as a potter, and left obsessed with fire and glass making. I just enjoy making whether building a shed or a furnace or making things grow in the garden there are not enough hours in the day to do all the making I need to do.
Since Rachael (Woodman, fellow glass artist) and I started our first workshop in Bath, 1984, my making skills have developed by realising the ideas of others, and in the 'melting pot' of many visiting artists I got my fix of glassmaking and colour. Over the last 10 years I have travelled and worked with different materials and methods, but I find myself more at home back in front of the furnace.
When I blow glass the colours in glass behave like layers of rock. Hard and soft, absorbing and transmitting heat just as they do light...

Striped Fold II, Mixed Colour Porcelain Sculptural Vessel by Steven Edwards
Located in London, GB
Striped Fold II is a unique sculpture by the British artist Steven Edwards, created from white and coloured parian porcelain.
Steven Edwards is a ceramic artist whose work investigates the language of making through the materiality and physicality of clay. Fascinated by process-led making, he uses traditional techniques that provoke unanticipated outcomes, using clay as a medium that sustains the narrative of the making process. The resulting forms embody his interaction and manipulation of the clay using bespoke tools to explore the intrinsic properties of the material.
His creative practice starts by purposely placing clay under stress to reveal the natural tension and movement in its surface and form. Throughout the whole making process, he pushes, pulls, compresses and slices the material to provoke a reaction. The final forms are a combination of these making scenarios, translating a theme of duality in their appearance – the contrast of visual distortion and precision, the stillness and movement in form and the surface deception between synthetic and natural.
Whilst challenging and pushing his material to the limits, often using clay bodies in ways they are not designed for, Edwards purposely exploits unexpected outcomes. Creating a sense of unease, during the making his clay cracks and buckles, resulting in permanent scars that illustrate the extremes that have been asked of it. Purely aesthetic, these fissures within the surface are an important counter point to the idealised sugary-hued confectionery layered rings.
Edwards has exhibited his work at premiere contemporary design and craft shows including British Ceramics...

Serving It Sculpture No.3 by Milla Vaahtera
Located in Geneve, CH
Serving it sculpture no.3 by Milla Vaahtera
Dimensions: H 28 x W 28
Materials: Glass
In 2021 Milla Vaahtera started a series of unique sculptural and blown glass serving objects. These objects are useful as serving or as vases, but most importantly they are sculptures. Milla Vaahtera is beginning a new series rethinking the objects of home as sculptures.
Glassblowers: Paula Pääkkönen, Sani Lappalainen, Otto Koivuranta, Jukka Viuha, Penna Tornberg and many other glassblowers from Nuutajärvi.
Vaahtera began to work on this series in May 2017 together with glassblowers Paula Pääkkönen, Sani Lappalainen, Pauli Vähäsarja, Henni Eliala and Jonas Paajanen of Nuutajärvi. The metal parts were prepared by silversmith Kirsi Kokkonen together with Milla Vaahtera. The method was based on dialogue with the glass artists, improvisation and intuition.
The ethereal pieces are a revival of the mobile tradition that emerged in the 1930s.The heavy glass parts and the delicate brass seek a balance with each other, thus creating tensions within the works.
Milla Vaahtera (born 1981) is a designer and an artist working in Helsinki. The themes of her works extend from body image and sexuality to intuition and dialogues in the creative progress. Vaahtera has graduated as a Master of Arts in 2010 from Aalto University, the School of Arts, Design and Architecture. She did her BA studies in Lahti Institute of Design in 2008. Her work is featured in several exhibitions at galleries and museums including the Design Museum Finland, Lokal gallery and UU Market...

White Pearl Pitcher II, a unique white Glass Sculpture by Fredrik Nielsen
Located in London, GB
The White Pearl Pitcher II is a unique white glass sculpture with a lustrous finish by the Swedish artist Fredrik Nielsen. The artist literally freehand sculpts his glass to create these monumental artworks. This piece has been finished with car body spray paint.
Predominantly experimental, Nielsen’s artworks are made in defiance of what is perceived as perfect. Weighty yet spontaneous, his creations carry marks, almost scars, that are inflicted during their making. What may appear rough and unfinished remain as part of the final piece. The intention is to not abuse his glass but to take it to its limits, questioning the role of the artist and how these pieces sit within the world of art and craft.
Neilsen has also incorporated live music...

Korean Glass 25, a unique porcelain and glass sculpture by Choi Keeryong
Located in London, GB
Korean Glass 25, is a unique sculpture in clear glass and porcelain that is handblown, painted and cut by the South Korean artist, Choi Keeryong. The interior detail of the piece is handpainted in blue, red and green.
Keeryong is based in Scotland. His work is informed by his investigations into the similarities and cultural differences that we all experience in relation to the objects around us in contrast to where we live. Something he is has personally experienced living in another country.
In this collection, Keeryong has developed a process using the ancient Korean ‘Saggam’ pottery technique, which allows him to explore a state of ambiguity created for the viewer’s visual experience. Using delineating geometric patterns and counterfeit letters (meaningless Korean words) he combines his glass with found English teapots...

Bottega Intreccio Woven Wicker 21st Century Mawa Centerpiece, by Setsu
Shinobu
Located in Mogliano, Marche
Mawa
“A centerpiece draw its inspiration from Nature. Mawa, narrow at the base and wider towards the top, borrows its features from a flower in all its splendor.”
This container reinterprets the archetype of the woven basket in a contemporary way, with ample proportions and organic
asymmetrical forms. The wicker is enhanced by a leather band at the base that gives the object decorative impact. The piece is difficult to make precisely due to the asymmetrical form.
Use and maintenance
All the items are made with raw materials and are guaranteed for interiors.
If it is necessary, they can also be installed outdoors as long as they are
sufficiently protected from atmospheric agents and not directly exposed
to the sunlight or water, in spaces like verandas, gazebos,
arcades or protected spaces.
The raw materials used for weavings could be not extremely
homogeneous due to different physical properties and the items could
have dimensions a bit different from descriptions listed in this document.
The colors could change for the same reasons. Those features are
the demonstration of authenticity of each product that is unique and
handcrafted in Italy by Mogliano’s masters.
Woven wicker is extremely resistant over the years, if it is stored in a dry
place and without excessive temperature changes, and it could also change color or nuances due to its sunlight exposure based-on nature. The weaving
by the craftsman is performed with soft and wet material, an the material dries naturally with the passage of time losing its elasticity.
For this reason, avoid excessive pressures, overloads of heavy weights or impacts. The bases or wooden parts are entirely in solid wood: with the aging they could change in size and present natural micro-cracks. Avoid direct and long exposure to the sun, completely avoid wetting.
About the lamp usage, in normal condition the items don’t require special maintenance.
Technicals
About item technical details and bulbs specifications, please
refer to the technical data sheets.
Cleaning
Use a soft cloth for cleaning. Don’t use any chemicals, acids, scourers or steel brushes.
The base in natural wood must be cleaned and dusted using a soft cloth,
even slightly damp. Immediately wipe again with a soft, dry cloth.
For lamps cleaning, unplug the appliance from electric power...

Contemporary Tryst Ceramic Vase with Hand-Painted Motif in Blue and White
By Amy Hughes
Located in London, GB
Tryst – 1882 Ltd. with Amy J Hughes. Industry meets the studio maker head-on in this collaborative project between ceramicist Amy Jayne Hughes, the V&A and 1882 Ltd. Aiming to restore the humble vase to its former status as the Ultimate Accessory, the collection elevates the functional object to a design motif and a symbol of the ancient world… Amy Jayne Hughes was the V&A Ceramics Resident from April – September 2015. Gleaning inspiration from the museum’s comprehensive collections, she married elements of her own practice with traditional hand-decorating techniques and the skills and expertise of Stoke-on-Trent’s finest industry. Her mid-18th century-style porcelain vase is more appealing for today’s consumer. The decoration, taken from sprig moulds carefully cast from museum objects, pays homage to the originals whilst finding a new place in contemporary culture. Designed in London, produced in Stoke, each slip-cast fine bone china vase...

The idea was born after deciding to reconnect with my family and my grandfather – a sculptor artist. Learning to sculpt and being a designer compelled me to combine these two mediums and use their best values. Experimenting with the functionality of sculpture and the meaning of furniture led me to create the collection.
Studio AOAO is an interdisciplinary studio combining art and design. It was created by Alicja Strzyzynska and Onur Iseri in Amsterdam in 2020.
“We specialise in making sculptural pieces by experimenting with the functionality of sculpture and the meaning of furniture. In our works, we focus on the emotional connection between the object and the user. All of our work seeks the experience of intimacy and the metaphysical bond between personal interaction and meaningful narrative. Through sculptural value and reflective design, we aim to create pieces that last for generations and help reduce environmental waste.”
The inspiration to sculpt came from Alicja’s roots, her grandfather – an artist sculptor. Alicja completed Masters of Arts Degree in Product and Visual Communication Design at Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and finished her bachelor degree in Interior Architecture. Alicja previously worked in Tokyo and Amsterdam in architectural design studios. Onur completed his business studies in Japan and worked in digital design & marketing as well as teaching in Tokyo.
The studio’s first collection debuted at Rossana Orlandi Gallery during Milan Design Week 2021. The studio currently collaborates with RO Gallery...
