George II Mahogany Wine Waiter or Bottle Carrier
Located in Lymington, GB
A rare English mahogany wine waiter or bottle carrier / stand. Of superb colour and patination. Mid-18th century, late George II period, circa 1750-1760. This fine, larger-than-usual, Georgian example retains its original lion mask gilt-brass mounts, and has survived with its original fretted angles. Rare to find in this excellent condition in view of the considerable use to which it would have put been during the last 265 or so years. These scarce open-topped Chippendale period wine waiters serve as bottle carriers raised on legs, with brass castors. They were designed to allow bottles to be circulated around a dining room for guests to help themselves. They had divisions, separated from their stands, and also had a central arched-shaped carrying handle. When not-in-use these wine waiters, or wine wagons...

Bow Porcelain Orphaned Coffee Cup, Famille Rose Peony, circa 1755
Located in London, GB
This is a very charming orphaned coffee cup made by the Bow Porcelain factory in about 1755. The cup is decorated in a Chinese "famille rose" peony pattern. This cup would have been part of a large tea service, and the tiny size shows how expensive coffee was in the 18th Century. The Bow Porcelain Factory was one of the first potteries in Britain to make soft paste porcelain, and most probably the very first to use bone ash, which later got perfected by Josiah Spode to what is now the universally used "bone china". Bow was the main competitor of the Chelsea Porcelain Factory, but where Chelsea made very fine slipcast porcelain, Bow made a different soft paste porcelain that tended to be softer and could be pressed into moulds. Bow served a larger public generally at lower prices. The factory was only in operation between 1743 and 1774, after which the tradition got incorporated into some of the later famous potteries such as Worcester and Derby. The cup is unmarked, which is normal for Bow items of this era. Condition report the cup is in excellent condition without any damage or repairs. There are various glazing imperfections, which are quite normal for porcelain of this era. Antique British porcelain...

18th C. Dutch Decorated English Creamware Plate, Onse Live Vrouw Tot Kevelaar
Located in Downingtown, PA
Dutch-decorated English Creamware Plate, Onse Live Vrouw Tot Kevelaar (Our Lady to Kevelaar), Circa 1765-1785. Dimensions: 10 inch diameter x 1 inch high. Kevelaer is a municipality in the district of Kleve, in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. It is the largest Catholic pilgrimage location within north-western Europe. More than 1 million pilgrims, mostly from Germany and the Netherlands, visit Kevelaer every year to honour the Virgin Mary. The population in 2015 was 28,311. History Kevelaer is a center of veneration and pilgrimage to Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted (also known as Our Lady of Consolation. According to tradition, a merchant praying in front of a cross in a field, heard a voice that told him: "Here thou shalt build me a chapel." His wife dreamt of a little chapel with a Madonna that someone had previously advised her to purchase, In 1642 a copperplate engraving, representing Our Lady of Luxembourg, was installed in a sanctuary erected the same year. It is one of the best visited Catholic pilgrimage locations in north-western Europe. The Gnadenkapelle [Chapel of Grace] has drawn pilgrims to the Lower Rhine Region from all over the world for more than 360 years. Pope John Paul II...
