19th Century Samson Paris Porcelain Trinket Box
By Samson
Cie
Located in Dallas, TX
Presenting a gorgeous French 19th century Samson Paris Porcelain Trinket Box probably by Edme Samson.
Marked on the base with “Made in France” and unmistakably in the style and manner of Samson.
The lid features hand painted floral bouquets on an ivory porcelain background with gold edging, surrounded by a sky blue lid with gold web or crackling effect.. The lid is hinged and the lid and base are edged in floral gilt metal mounts with Fleur De Lis clasp. It sits on 4 gilt metal or ormolu feet. The sides are likewise hand decorated.
This wonderful antique hand painted box is just bursting with History. Inspired by Edme Samson of Samson & Co., Paris. we believe (based upon the markings and natural aging) that it was made between 1880– 1890 in France and was meant to resemble an antique of a much earlier period. It is very similar to Sevres pieces with it’s color, decoration and design.
Samson specialized in reproducing antiques from the 1600 and 1700s. One of his most interesting works was his Heraldic or Armorial pieces. With this medium sized box, he was not only copying the larger porcelain caskets or coffin boxes...

Haviland Limoges Porcelain Fleurs Parisiennes Tureen, 1887-1889
By Haviland
Co.
Located in Clifton Springs, NY
Antique hand painted and hand decorated small tureen by Haviland in the Fleurs Parisiennes pattern on Cannele blank measures 3.1" and 8.5" with 5.4" opening. The back-marks on the bottom are H&C*/Depose underglaze mark, dating back to 1887, and the circular Haviland Limoges decorator/overglaze mark (mark g, according to Haviland's Collectors International Foundation reference sheet) in brown (color indicates premium decor pieces on Haviland porcelain made in that period), dating back to 1879-1889.
Cannele blank ("fluted"), influenced by traditional Japanese bowl shape called "kaki" or "chrysanthemum", was one of the new blanks created in 1880-1890s by Haviland's artists at the peak of Japonisme movement, after European artists and artisans become exposed to Japanese art. Cannele was hugely popular at the time and won the Grand Prix of 1889 Paris's World Fair. The Fleurs Parisiennes is one of the less common Haviland patterns...

Hutschenreuther-Selb Porcelain Figurine "COCKATOO" Marked #3 on Base

Cockatoo's with their glorious crown of plumage think they own the world and this one certainly does. It sits with royal dignity upon its lusciously painted Veridian and Gold glazed column. An exquisite Hutschenreuther-Selb porcelain that is over 100 years old. The stamps on the bottom show the names of Lorenz Hutschentreuther and the Hutschenreuther A.G., Selb company. Hutschenreuther is the name of a German family that established the production of porcelain in northern Bavaria, starting in 1814. The Hutschenreuther porcelain business was founded in 1814 by Carol’s Magnus Hutschenreuther (1794-1845) in Hohenberg an Der Eger, Bavaria, Germany. He had previously worked at the Wallendorf porcelain manufactory in Lichte (Wallendorf.)
After his death in 1845, the factory was headed by his widow, Johanna Hutschenreuther, and her two sons. A large part of the factory was destroyed by a firedestroyed by a fire in 1848, but it was rebuilt. From 1860, they produced hand-painted and gilded porcelain products.
In 1857, Lorenz Hutschenreuther, the elder son of Carolus Magnus...
