This wonderful centerpiece was made with a central vase for flowers and a dishe either side, each can be removed when required, to house sweetsd, fruit, nuts, etc
A lot of intricate detailing has gone into the creation of this beautiful item. This is an extremely well designed and attractive piece that can only grow in value.
Condition:
In excellent condition with clear makers marks and no dings, dents or signs of repair. Please see photos for confirmation.

James Deakin & Sons
The firm was founded in Sheffield by James Deakin in 1866.
The first mark was entered by the firm in Sheffield Assay Office on 31 January 1878. It was a "JD" over "WD" and, possibly, represented the partnership of James Deakin and his son William Pitchford Deakin. The firm was active at Sidney Works, Matilda Street, Sheffield.
In 1886 two further sons entered in the partnership, John Deakin and Albert Deakin, and the firm was then known as James Deakin & Sons.
Further marks were entered in London Assay Office (1888) by William and John Deakin (subsidiary offices and showrooms at 48 Holborn Viaduct, London), Chester and Birmingham. Further offices and showrooms were opened at Gardiner House, 14 Charterhouse Street, London, 34 St. Enoch Square, Glasgow and 7 Queen Street, Belfast.
After the retirement of James Deakin (1893) the business was continued by his sons William, John and Albert.
In 1897 the firm was converted into a limited liability company under the style James Deakin & Sons Ltd.

Beautifully crafted and endlessly charming, this exceptionally rare silverplate teapot by the prestigious firm of Christofle & Cie. takes the form of a stylized wild hare. It was designed by Emile Reiber, a highly regarded architect, designer and Prix de Rome winner who joined Christofle as head of the workshop of composition and drawing in 1865. The design is after a Meiji-period Japanese bronze from the famed collection of Henri Cernuschi, an Italian banker and savvy collector of the arts of the Far East.
Japonism was rising quickly in popularity in France around the time this teapot was created. Japan had opened borders and started trade with Europe in the 1860s, inspiring new ideas among European designers and artists like Reiber as they saw the arts of Japan firsthand for the first time. Cernuschi exhibited his collection at the Palais de l'Industrie at the Orientalist Exhibition in 1873-74, where Reiber spent weeks sketching the bronze artifacts — drawings he then translated into luxurious silverplate objects for Christofle.
Based in Paris, Christofle & Cie. has been manufacturing high-quality luxury items since 1830. Christofle silver has graced the tables of European and Asian nobility for decades, and it is the tableware of choice on such luxury transportation as the Orient Express and the Trans-Siberian Railway. Innovative and revolutionary, the Christofle name is synonymous with elegance and style.

A cutler named Thomas Boulsover, who worked for a cutlers company in Sheffield, England, accidentally invented what we now call Sheffield silverplate during the 1700s. While working on a decorative knife for a customer — the metalworkers guild had been tasked with repairing its handle — Boulsover mistakenly overheated the silver and noticed that the knife’s layers of silver and copper melded together, creating an impressive bond. This new material felt like silver but was substantially cheaper. It was then used to produce a variety of serveware, candlesticks, buttons, tea sets and more. For families that couldn’t afford the sterling-silver tureens that were used to serve soup in the upper-class English homes at the time, this was good news. They could impress guests with housewares that looked like sterling silver but actually weren't.
