Boin-Taburet Faberge, - 8pc. 950 Sterling Tea Set + 6 Faberge Espresso Cups
Located in Wilmington, DE
Direct from Paris, A Magnificent 8-piece Sterling Silver Tea Set by one of France's Premier French Silversmith "Boin-Taburet", and includes 6 Faberge Imperial Egg espresso cups and saucers in fine Limoges porcelain. The world of silver-smithing has witnessed the rise and fall of many notable firms throughout its history. In the realm of French silver-smithing, the name "Boin-Taburet" stands as a symbol of enduring excellence, innovation, and craftsmanship. Fabergé, a name synonymous with opulence, craftsmanship, and unparalleled luxury, has captivated the world for over a century. The brand's remarkable journey from a modest Russian jewelry atelier to a symbol of prestige and sophistication is a testament to its enduring legacy. In 1885 Tsar Alexander III commissioned a lavish Easter egg for his wife, Empress Maria Feodorovna. This magnificent piece, known as the Hen Egg, was an extraordinary fusion of artistry and engineering, setting the stage for what would become Faberge’s most iconic creations - the Imperial Easter Eggs. The Imperial Easter Eggs, a series of intricately designed and meticulously crafted eggs, became the hallmark of Fabergé's artistry. Peter Carl Fabergé and his team of skilled artisans poured their hearts and souls into creating these masterpieces, which were intended as gifts from the Russian Tsars to their wives and mothers. The history of Boin-Taburet is closely linked to the two families that merged to create this iconic firm. The story begins with the Boin family, where Alexis Boin, a skilled silversmith, laid the foundation of the firm. Boin's craftsmanship and artistic abilities were quickly recognized, and his works gained prominence during the early 19th century. The Taburet family, on the other hand, was equally esteemed in the silver-smithing world. Auguste Taburet, known for his intricate designs and fine workmanship, brought the Taburet name to the forefront of French silver-smithing. It was the union of these two families through marriage in 1845 that established the firm known as "Boin-Taburet." The Imperial Easter Eggs not only showcased Fabergé's technical prowess but also solidified the brand's reputation as the jeweler to the Russian imperial family. They were exquisite symbols of love and devotion, and their creation marked a collaborative effort between Fabergé and the Romanov dynasty. The quality and craftsmanship of Boin-Taburet's silverware, exemplified in this stunning tea set, earned the firm a well-deserved reputation. Notably, Boin-Taburet received royal patronage from Emperor Napoleon III, which marked a significant milestone in their history. This recognition catapulted the firm to new heights, and they began creating exquisite pieces for the French royal court. Their exceptional work was displayed at prestigious international exhibitions, further enhancing their reputation on the global stage. The firm's achievements were not limited to France, as Boin-Taburet's pieces found homes in royal collections around the world. This is an amazing 8 piece set and in each of the sterling pieces have been professionally restored to near new condition. The majestic Samovar (Water Fountain) stands roughly 39.00cm. high to the top of the lid, is approximately 23.00cm. across to the tip of the spout and weights 2,270 grams. It bears the French Government's Head of the Minerva 1 hallmark, certifying a minimum of 950 sterling silver, in addition to the Henin Frères sterling silver manufacturer's hallmark and is stamped "Boin-Taburet a Paris" on the underside. English Pearlware Coffee Pot, Blue Transferware, Fallow Deer in Snow, 1800-1820
Located in London, GB
This is a superb coffee pot made in England between 1800 and 1825. The pot is made of pearlware and has a very charming blue transfer printed pattern of fallow deer in a snowy landscape with farm buildings. This transfer print looks like an early 19thC print; as we couldn't identify the maker it was impossible to date it exactly. A charming detail is that the rim of the cover and the footrim, which are printed with a row of houses, both are printed up side down; this was probably done by children, who often did the smaller transfer prints because their little fingers could handle the thin strips of paper better than adults. The coffeepot is unmarked. There is an old shop label on the underside stating it is "English, probably Spode" - however, although this pot is certainly English, it is certainly not Spode. CONDITION REPORT The coffee pot is in good antique and usable condition without any damage to the pot or the spout; there are just some chips off the lower rim of the cover, which are not visible when in position and are inconsequential for using the pot. As is normal for antique pearlware...

Charles Thomas Fox Sterling Silver Three Piece Tea Service
By Charles Thomas Fox
Located in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne
An exceptional, fine antique George IV English sterling silver three piece tea service / set made by Charles Thomas Fox; part of our silver teaware collection This exceptional antique sterling silver three piece tea service consists of a teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl. Each piece has an oval rounded compressed form on to a collet base and four bracket style feet. The body of each piece is embellished with chased flower and foliate decoration incorporating a shaped cartouche to either side, each displaying a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a mower with his scythe proper habited*. The upper rim of each piece is encompassed with a gadroon decorated border. The swept shoulders and the swan necked spout of the teapot are further ornamented with chased floral and scrolling leaf decoration. The original hinged hallmarked cover of the teapot is surmounted with a silver flower and leaf decorated finial. The teapot is fitted with a C scroll sterling silver handle ornamented with an impressive leaf design incorporated into a scrolling thumbpiece. The cream jug and sugar bowl have leaf decorated sterling silver C scroll handles and retain the original gilt interiors. Each piece is supported by four impressive bracket style feet accented with floral and paw ornamentation in the classic Regency style. The components of this exceptional antique teaware set were crafted by the renowned London silversmith Charles Thomas Fox. * The crest pertains to the Pilkington family, who are found in the Counties of Lancashire and Yorkshire, although other families bearing the name are found further afield and a similar crest. Whether these families are genealogically connected is not known. The Pilkingtons, of Rivington in the County of Lancashire are probably the more ancient and senior line. Legend has it that a member of the family (which was said to be one of repute prior to the Norman Conquest of 1066) disguised himself when sought by Norman soldiers as a mower and escaped. A similar legend adheres to another Lancashire family, the De Traffords or Traffords in which a member of that family avoided capture by the Parliamentarians during the Civil War of the 17th Century by disguising himself as simple-minded thresher wielding a frail rather than the Pilkington's scythe. There is certainly a possibility that this tea service was in the possession the baronetcy family of Pilkington, of Stanley in the County of Yorkshire who descended from Sir Alexander de Pilkington who held lands at Rivington during the reign of King Henry III. The baronet at the time of the manufacture of this tea service was Sir William Pilkington, the 8th Baronet (baptised 14th November 1775 died 30th 1850). Condition The pieces of this antique tea service...
