Backgammon Roarshax Wood Case with Glass Chips and Dice
Located in Naucalpan, Edo de Mex
Backgammon is a very old strategic board game, from which its origin is still undefined. A true Classic game about tactics and luck played around the globe. Taking this Classic as inspiration, Orfeo collaboration joined skills to create a board game with stimulating materials and astounding chips. Shined a spotlight on to the raw materials used to create it. The exterior of the board is composed of two elements, a metalic box and a thinly sliced oyster cut veneer of parota wood. The oysters are sourced from reclaimed branches of these gigantic trees; a material that is commonly discarded as fire wood given the difficulties of processing it. Underneath the wood they have used a single sheet of meticulously oxidized metal that is laser cut to size, then assembled into a box by one of their master craftsmen. Opening the chest you’ll find a treasure of glass checkers and dice handmade by Orfeo Quagliata’s artisans. Orfeo takes his most interesting glass techniques to apply them to all the chips in the game. The checkers are manufactured in two different processes. The "Barcodes" technique is a fine linear design with schemes of different colors that contrast between one competitor and another. Thin strips of different colored glass are placed next to each other and then fused into a single piece, from which circular pieces are drilled, ground and hand polished to form the chip. The more sober and bitone "Roarshax" technique presents an electrifying texture on the top of a transparent body. Meanwhile the dice are solid glass cubes...

Teckell T1.1 Crystal 9-foot Pool Table in Light Bronz by Marc Sadler
Located in Brooklyn, NY
The Teckell T1.1 pool table with light bronze trim lures in both design aficionados and top players. The light dances across its handcrafted glass surfaces and glimmers when it strikes the light bronze aluminum rails. The tempered glass playing field is at least 9/16” thick. A precise leveling system utilizing 12 screws is hidden inside the table’s black, solid oak base. Available in different options: Black structre DIMENSIONS: L 290 W 163 H 82 cm It features legs made of clear tempered crystal at least 0.59" th. with double-bevel edges that self-stabilize, a support made of solid wood hollowed out for the insertion of the glass, hiding a perfect system of regulation and a playing field made of a single sheet of tempered crystal at least 0.59" th. Simonis 860 worsted wool playing surface available in 25 colors. For the perfect game of style, Teckell pool tables’ surfaces are also available with Redaelli Velluti made in Italy cloths. Bases are in solid oak which has been ebonized (a reaction that turns black the open pore wood) with a shiny stainless steel structure. The pockets are made of smoked transparent thermoplastic. Solid aluminum rails with black anodized finish. Accessories included with the pool table: four professional and stylish cues, one set of Pool Balls Aramith and one rack. Cue rack and ceiling lamp are also available on request. Indoor use only. "T1" is the product of an encounter between an entrepreneur and a designer, a project that becomes a reality thanks to the savoir faire of a group of Italian companies highly specialized in making individual components: glass, steel, wood, but also special high-tech polymers for the pockets and the bumpers. A great team effort at the service of an original and elegant idea that puts together imagination, entrepreneurial brilliance, technology and ability, in order to reveal and give life to a unique object. "T1" pool table is available in an eight feet version, ideal for modern homes’ living spaces. The crystal in the T1 pool table now glows with light, its exquisite transparency accentuated. Studio Sadler researched and designed a unique LED lighting system, captivating crystal’s beauty shines. Teckell’s pool tables are a synthesis of innovation and tradition, art and design, technology and craftsmanship. These one-of-a-kind objects are the result of thinking way outside the box and maximizing the capacity of materials. MARC SADLER, French citizen born in Austria, currently lives in Milan. Experimentation with plastics has often formed a key part of his activity. He already showed a strong curiosity for the subject choosing it for his thesis at ENSAD in Paris. Citizen of the world (he has lived and worked for many years in Europe, North America and Asia), he is a consultant for companies in the fields of home furnishings, large and small household appliances, lighting, technically advanced products, and sports. At the beginning of the seventies, he perfect the first ski-boot in thermo plastic material completely recyclable, subsequently commercialized by the Italian firm Caber (later known as Lotto). He quickly gains the responsibility of the entire collections and starts a long and fruitful collaboration which led to the patenting of the ski-boot with a symmetric shell, which was for many years the most widely-sold ski-boot in the world. This is the origin of his specialization as a sports designer, which led him to close collaboration with the most important multinational sport companies in the United States, Asia and Europe, both in the sport shoes and in other sport fields: ski, tennis raquets, golf clubs, etc. Working in this sector, which has often pioneered research into new materials and techniques, provided the experience to enable him to bring innovation to more traditional areas where is set a concept of design as pure aesthetic shape. Awarded 4 times with the Compasso d’Oro ADI (Industrial Design association) for the lamps Drop (Flos, 1994), Tite and Mite (Foscarini, 2001), the bookshelf Big (Caimi Brevetti...

Large Antique Hand Carved Wood Black Forest Wall Plaque W. Crucifix Behind Glass
Located in Lisse, NL
Museum quality and condition work of religious art with amazing, hand carved details. This amazingly hand carved wooden wall plaque is not only of great quality and condition, it also has a patina that is unlike anything you ever saw. Over the decades we have sold a number of unique and interesting crucifixes, but we had not yet come across one that is inside such a beautiful branches and leaf frame in the Swiss Black Forest style. For us to have found it in this amazing condition again felt like a blessing and we are grateful to be able it to offer it to our 1stdibs clientele first. At the centre of this Christian-work-of-art-wall-plaque and behind the original, mouth-blown convex glass 'window' is an even more detailed sepiolite sculpture of Christ on the cross. The details in this crucifix sculpture...

Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Glass
Located in New Orleans, LA
This engraved glass was crafted to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Sixteen years following the coronation of her father, King George VI, the official coronation of Queen Elizabeth II represented a fascinating mix of tradition and modernity. Held at Westminster Abbey, it was the first official celebration of its kind ever to be televised — approximately 27 million people in the United Kingdom alone tuned in to watch their new Queen don her crown for the first time. Considering the widespread popularity of the event, commemorative objects such as this became highly desirable, as people around the world sought remembrances of the joyous occasion. This glass is an exceptional example of its type that remains in excellent condition. One side reads "The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth 1953," while the other displays the initials "ER II...
