This is a superb antique English Regency flame mahogany shaped serpentine bowfront sideboard, Circa 1820 in date.
It is crossbanded, bordered with ebony lines and fitted with a central frieze drawer above a recessed arched apron drawer. It is flanked by two short drawers to one side and a cellarette drawer to the other. It has superb decorative brass foliate anthemion ring handles and is raised on elegant ring turned tapered legs.
Fitted with working locks and keys.

This original Biedermeier table dates back to around 1820-30 and comes from Southern Germany. The table has a central column which stands on a trefoil base. This magnificent antique George IV English sterling silver soup tureen has an oval rounded form.
The lower portion of the body is encompassed with impressive chased fluted decoration in a subtle swirl design.
The decoration to the body incorporates an impressive scrolling leaf bordered cartouche to either side, each displaying an exceptional contemporary bright cut engraved marital coat of arms* depicting on the dexter a chevron between three crosses paty and the sinister a quadrangular castle.
The coat of arms is surmounted with a bright cut engraved crest displaying a tent adorned or lined charged in the interior with a cross paty of the third.
The plain waisted upper portion is encompassed with a Fine and impressive applied gadroon decorated border to the flared rim.

“I know of no other chair like the single [sic] ‘lyre back’ one. . . . I certainly recognize it as a Boston chair considering all the individual elements, but the combination is particularly elegant.” So wrote noted scholar of Boston furniture Page Talbott when a set of four chairs of this design originally surfaced in the 1980s. Although the existence of four chairs in a specific pattern might imply that the chairs were originally part of a larger set, no additional chairs of this form have appeared in the intervening years.
The lyre became a popular motif during the Neo-Classical period, and is frequently encountered as the back splat of klismos chairs, in no example more familiar than in a group of Duncan Phyfe chairs...
