Restored, vintage flat bar chrome lounge chairs set designed by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin. These lounge chairs have recently been updated with period appropriate grey tweed wool fabric. The texture and tone plays beautifully against the chrome frame. The original Thayer Coggin tags were preserved, and sewn into the seats. The chairs have a sleek pitched back gangster lean that cradles you into a comfy nook. Upholstered arm rests add even more comfort without giving the chair a bulky overstuffed look. Two metal clips on each chair hold in the otherwise loose seat cushions.
A superb pair of Milo Baughman’s legendary 951 flat-bar lounge chairs for Thayer Coggin, these pieces stand as paragons of mid-century modern elegance.

Fabulous vintage pair of modern chrome cantilever chairs with original oatmeal hopsacking and black plastic armrests by Steelcase labeled Model #421-482. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There are some small scratches on the chrome and two of the buttons on each seat have been replaced using fabric salvaged from bottom of chair. Buttons are a slightly different size, but you must examine closely to tell. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1981.

Steelcase was founded as the Metal Office Furniture Company in 1912 by Peter M. Wege in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Metal Office Furniture Company's first products included fireproof metal safes and four-drawer filing cabinets which Wege invented and manufactured for the Macey Company. In 1914, the company received its first product patent for "The Victor," a fireproof steel wastebasket. The Victor gained popularity due to its light weight achieved through a patented process of bending flat steel at right angles to create boxes, and its ability to prevent fires at a time when smoking was common indoors, particularly in the workplace. In 1915, the company began manufacturing and distributing steel desks and in 1937, the company collaborated with Frank Lloyd Wright on office furniture. The partnership lasted two years and resulted in some of the first modern workstations. The company officially changed its name to Steelcase, Inc. in 1954 and became known as the leader of the furniture industry in the late 1960s due to the volume of its sales and in 1973, the company debuted the Series 9000 furniture line. Awesome gray-blue & chrome vintage cantilever chairs by United Chair Company in the style of steelcase. Comprised of a chrome cantilever frame, black plastic armrests, and their original teal & gray tweed fabric with button details. We have 9 chairs that we are selling separately. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Aren’t these chairs magnificent???!!! We certainly think so! These are fabulous gray-blue and chrome cantilever chairs made by United Chair Company and they’re in the style of Steelcase. They are comprised of a gorgeous chrome cantilever frame with black plastic armrests, and they wear their original awesome gray-blue and orange fleck tweed fabric with button detail on their backs and seat cushions. The fabric is cool because in different lights, it looks a little different. It’s kind of gray, kind of blue, and has little orange specs throughout… It takes on the color of what you set it with. Super stylish and super comfortable!! We say these chairs are mostly modern, but they would definitely blend in beautifully with Art Deco, mid-century modern, or Bauhaus styles. And did we mention that we have 89 of them available? So, your options are limitless! They would be fabulous seating for your dining table or around the office conference table...

Where to begin! If you are looking at this listing then the chances are you know how rare and important this pair is, they have been on a journey of restoration which I’ll talk you through. The chair comes complete with the original Fritz Hansen stamp which dates the piece to July 1968
The original leather hide had faded back to the pre dyed colour, as such I sent them to my leather polisher who was trained by Ralph Lauren when they rolled out their “at home” division across Europe, Ralph taught him how to restore and colour old leather using traditional techniques.
