Louis XV Chairs Pair Designed by Paul Mathieu for Stephanie Odegard
By Paul Mathieu (French), Stephanie Odegard Collection
Located in New York, NY
Louis XV chairs pair designed by Paul Mathieu for Stephanie Odegard. He chose the name “Louise” when he created his more feminine version of Louis XV furniture and this elegant pair of Louis XV Chairs. The characteristic cabriole leg, curving outward at the knee and inward towards the foot in an "S" shape was born during Louis XV period. When Louis XV, who reigned from 1715–74, focused royal life on the smaller salons of Versailles rather than its grand chambers, it transformed the aesthetics away from the imposing and angular furniture that characterized the style of Louis XIV. A broader focus on comfort and more delicate forms define antique Louis XV furniture...

Charming with its rustic appearance, this early 20th-century Indian low wooden chair is a delightful fusion of craftsmanship and practicality. The front legs are baluster-shaped, adding a touch of elegance, while the back legs showcase a curving silhouette, enhancing the chair's overall aesthetic. The nicely weathered appearance of the wood gives this piece an authentic, timeworn charm that brings warmth and character to any space. Ideal as a decorative accent, this rustic chair can be placed in a mudroom, where it serves as a charming seating option for putting on shoes, or in a child's bedroom, adding a whimsical touch to the decor. Its delicate carvings and robust construction make it both a functional piece and a work of art. This Indian wooden chair...

Pierre Jeanneret PJ-67-A Cube Stool / Authentic Mid-Century Modern Chandigarh
By Pierre Jeanneret
Located in Zürich, CH
Here we see a decision to project the universal ideals of modernity onto Indian reality. However, this piece was inspired by North Indian culture, as well the cosmic and spiritual Indian perception, that changed the rationalist perception of Le Corbusier in a substantial way. That is a one-of-a-kind piece – unique and outstanding, it holds a museum exhibit quality. An artefact for collectors and connoisseurs. A piece without any compromises. Highly valuable, rarely even offered by auction houses. However, it comes with a price. It is a piece quite similar to LC’s stool...

Louis XV Dinning Table Set with 4 Chairs and 1 Sofa by Stephanie Odegard
By Stephanie Odegard Collection

The renowned designer Paul Mathieu chose the name “Louise” when he created his more feminine version of Louis XV (1730-1760) furniture. The characteristic cabriole leg, curving outward at the knee and inward towards the foot in an "S" shape was born during this period. It is during the same era that English furniture makers produced the Queen Anne and Chippendale styles. The curved legs and side arms of this exceptionally elegant chair are hand carved from solid pieces of teak. Pattern makers trace and cut complex forms that will cover the chair in a skin of copper or purest silver (assayed at 96% purity, beyond sterling at 92.5%). The metal finishes will tarnish over time.
