This Chiavarina model stands out for its rational and linear design, elaborated trough a process intended to simplify forms reducing the use of materials. The result is a modern and agile chair which evolves the concept of the classic ''chiavarina'' chair nevertheless maintaining its original construction process.
Made of beech painted in a cherrywood essence, this model has a frame which weight just 1,700 kg (for a total of 2,1 kg with its drawn guinea cane seat).
Chiavari chairs (Chiavarine) have a 200 years long history and since the beginning of their production they have evolved in several models being always recognisable for a distinctive frame structure which allow them to be one of the lightest chair in the world without compromising their sturdiness and stability.
Between the 1930 and 1960s they have been one of the first choice of some of the most renowned Italian architects and interior designers when they had to select a dining chair able to fit their refined taste. This is a chair fit for a KING… or a QUEEN!!! This is an absolutely fabulous chair… some call it a Savonarola or Curule chair, it may also be known as a Renaissance or Dante style chair. All correct, and all very similar in style with slightly different features. It is palatial in structure with a wide U-shaped seat and frame with curved legs which create an X style base. It is comprised of gorgeous dark stained wood with horizontal turned spindles under the arms and turned stretchers on the base. The seat and back is upholstered in a fantastic gold striped velvety chenille fabric with hammered steel nail head details, and it has a carved flower motif in the center under the seat. It is sturdy, richly carved, and has a spacious, splendid design! It is Spanish Revival in style with a bit of Medieval or Renaissance Revival flair and it is sure to be an eye-catching piece in any room of your home. It would be wonderful in a corner of your bedroom, in the study across from the fireplace, or as an accent chair in the living room. It would be awesome in a game room surrounded with medieval or Renaissance décor...
