Charlotte Perriand Mexique Stool Outdoor For Cassina
By Charlotte Perriand
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Charlotte Perriand Mexique Stool Outdoor For Cassina Cassina interprets the Mexique designer tables and stools by Charlotte Perriand in new versions, for outdoor living enjoyment at its best. With materials and finishes suited to outdoor use that maintain the same harmony and purity of line that distinguish the entire collection. Charlotte Perriand began designing the “en forme libre” series of tables in 1938 and devised Mexique in 1952 for the students’ rooms in the Maison du Mexique at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris. The iconic triangular shape with bevelled edges - designed to make the best use of the space - is the unmistakable feature of the seat of the Mexique Outdoor design stool, as well; it can be paired with the high bar table from the same collection. STRUCTURE AND FOOTREST In stainless steel, matt black powder-coat finish SEAT In okoume plywood, matt lacquer finish. FEET In black plastic Charlotte Perriand began designing the “en forme libre” series of tables in 1938 and devised Mexique in 1952 for the students’ rooms in the Maison du Mexique at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris. Re-edited by Cassina for the first time in 2014, it gave rise to a collection that includes several iterations, all while staying true to the original designs. Now, working closely with Pernette Perriand-Barsac, daughter and sole heir of Charlotte Perriand, Cassina introduces the Mexique tables and stools in new versions for en plein air enjoyment to the max. The iconic triangular shape with bevelled edges - originally designed to make the best use of the available space - remains the unmistakable trait in the Mexique Outdoor line, launched this year as a low table, dining table and high table with matching stool, available in two heights. New materials available in fresh, novel finishes and colours differentiate and emphasize the elegant design of this family. For all of the pieces in the series, Okoume wood, ideal for outdoor use, comes with matt lacquer finish in the following colours: marron glacé, China red, comfort, petroleum, light grey, sage green, a new shade of blue and Capri blue; the low tables also come with glossy glazed ceramic finish in the following shades: mossy green, basalt grey and light grey, while a natural teak seat is also available for the stools. Thanks to this vast and varied product range, it is possible to mix and match the various styles to create dynamic, free-form arrangements in absolute Charlotte Perriand spirit. As is true of all the works in the Cassina I Maestri Collection, each piece is authenticated by the Cassina logo, Charlotte Perriand’s signature and by a serial number that corresponds to the data on its ID card. Important information regarding images of products: Please note that some of the images show other colors and variations of the model, these images are only to present interior design proposals. The item that is selling is on the first image. Important information regarding color(s) of products: Actual colors may vary. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor, laptop, tablet and phone screen has a different capability to display colors and that everyone sees these colors differently. We try to edit our photos to show all of our products as life-like as possible, but please understand the actual color may vary slightly from your monitor About The Designer: Charlotte Perriand full membership of that avant-garde cultural movement which, from the first decades of the twentieth century, brought about a profound change in aesthetic values and gave birth to a truly modern sensitivity towards everyday life. In this context, her specific contribution focuses on interior composition, conceived as creating a new way of living, still today at the heart of contemporary lifestyle. In the sphere of twentieth century furnishing history, the advent of modernity made possible the entrepreneurial audacity of this true reformer of interior design. At the beginning of her professional career she was acclaimed by critics for her Bar under the roof, exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in 1927 and constructed entirely in nickel-plated copper and anodized aluminium. In the same year, when she was just twenty-four years old, she began a decade-long collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, at the famous design studios at 35, rue de Sèvres in Paris. Her presence in the Le Corbusier studio is visible in all the furnishings designed with him and with Pierre Jeanneret: and so Charlotte Perriand becomes a cornerstone in the reformation project promoted by the architect, adding a distinct dimension of humaneness to the often cold rationalism of Le Corbusier. In her creations she manages to animate the fundamental substance of daily life with new aesthetic values: in particular her talent and intuition in the discovery and use of new materials manifest themselves to their full extent. The ten-year long collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, and her Japanese experience, represent periods of intense creative effervescence in the life of the artist. During her long stay in the Far East (‘40-‘46), she reveals her artistic talent to the full, through a reinterpretation of the reality of life to echo both tradition and modernity. By way of example, worthy of mention are the furnishings produced using traditional bamboo processing techniques, capable of enhancing the new forms already experimented using steel-tubing.After her work as a professional, she concentrates on a series of original and balanced productions, commissioned by top-level authorities and leading companies of the calibre of Air France, and by a number of foreign organizations, authenticating the fame she had by now gained on the international scene. The distinguishing factor of Charlotte Perriand’s personality is a sincere loyalty to the principles of humane and innovative rationalism, preserved intact in her projects, on which she worked with such passion, also in readiness for their revival in the “Cassina I Maestri” collection. Afra Tobia Scarpa ‘Monk’ Chairs in Patinated Leather Walnut Frame, 1974
By Molteni C, Afra Tobia Scarpa
Located in Almelo, NL
Beautiful set of six Monk chairs by Afra Tobia Scarpa for Molteni, featuring patinated cognac leather and walnut wood frames with fantastic patina. Designed in 1974 by the renowned Italian duo Afra Tobia Scarpa for Molteni, the Monk chair is one of the most iconic seating designs of the period. This complete set of six early examples demonstrates the Scarpas’ architectural approach to form, material and structure. Each chair features a thick saddle-leather seat and back that wraps over the frame and is secured with exposed metal hardware—one of the defining aesthetic signatures of the Monk series. The original cognac leather shows a beautiful, authentic patina, with natural colour variations and characterful ageing that only decades of careful use can produce. The frames are made from solid walnut wood, displaying a fantastic patina and rich grain that pairs perfectly with the warm tones of the leather. The walnut construction gives the chairs their monolithic, grounded presence while maintaining the refined minimalism typical of Scarpa’s work. Both sculptural and functional, these chairs suit a wide range of interiors—from contemporary architectural spaces to classic vintage settings. A matching set of six Monk chairs in original leather with walnut frames has become increasingly rare on the market. Highly collectible and sought after by enthusiasts of Italian 20th-century design, they offer an excellent opportunity for private interiors, hospitality projects or gallery-level collections. All chairs are structurally sound, professionally checked, and ready for immediate use. DIMENSIONS Width: 52 cm (20.5 in) Depth: 48 cm (18.9 in) Height: 75 cm (29.5 in) Seat Height: 45 cm (17.7 in) Quantity: Set of 6 CONDITION Original cognac leather with warm, characterful patina consistent with age and use. Italian Art Deco Two-Seat Sofa in Walnut Burl with Original Velvet, Naples, 1930
Located in Almelo, NL
Italian Art Deco Two-Seat Sofa in Walnut Burl with Original Velvet, Naples, 1930s – Museum Quality This exceptional Italian Art Deco two-seat sofa, crafted in the 1930s, is a rare example of the refined craftsmanship and sculptural design that defined Italian decorative arts during the interwar period. Originating from a private villa in Naples, the piece remains in fully original and museum-quality condition, perfectly matching the pair of lounge chairs from the same ensemble. The sofa features an elegant U-shaped frame in walnut burl, showcasing extraordinary book-matched grain patterns and a deep, lustrous patina. Its sweeping curves and plinth base reflect the luxurious architectural forms of Italian Art Deco, while the two carved wooden spheres integrated into the lower structure emphasize balance and movement — hallmarks of period design. The seat and back retain their original jacquard velvet upholstery in rich tones of burgundy, gold, and olive green.
