The project Q.bo sculture does not intend to recreate the object in a different form but to elevate it to a real sculpture while mantaining the functional part it was create for. No longer furniture but indipendent form able to fill a space and arouse emotions by itself.
This sculpture was born breaking up a night stand from 1950s. The structure has still the original wood as visible on the back of the piece, while in the cut sections a new wood part has been added.
The finish is yellow and green colored resin applied with a spatula in two coats. This technique creates a visual and tactile effect and gives a protection from scratches and small bumps. Furthermore the cabinet is cleanable with a damp cloth and is water-repellent.
The shuttle can be opened as originally but it has been adapted to the new shape. The inside of the cabinet is natural as it shows the authentic wood...
