It was produced most likely in 1939 in Mariano Comense which is a small village near Milan by the artist Giuseppe Anzani.
Anzani has been one of the greatest, if not the greatest wood crafter and inlaid maker. He started his career as an engraver when he was a little child and he won awards for his skills when he was only 16. Later on, he started also to master the art of wood inlay, becoming the most skilled inlayer of all times. The serpentine Griotte de Campan Rouge marble top above a single bombé door painted with a scène of a couple running through the forest flanked by cupids and angels over a waterfall, the interior fitted with one wooden shelf, the front angles each with a scrolling foliate clasp, the bombé sides decorated with square parquetry fields, on cabriole legs and acanthus-cast sabots. The lockplate engraved 'Ct. LINKE - PARIS'. The ormolu cast stamped 'FL' on the back. Circa: Paris, 1890-1900.
François Linke (1855-1946) was one of the most celebrated ébénistes of his time. Born in Pankraz, Bohemia, Linke moved to Paris in 1875 and six years later established independent ateliers at 170, rue de Faubourg St. Antoine. As was the practice among contemporaries and noteworthy predecessors, such as Alfred Beurdeley and Henry Dasson, Linke initially produced furniture derived from styles popular during the 18th century ancien régime. By 1900, his worldwide reputation as an individualistic master of high quality furniture was already established. The large display cabinet with four wide open shelves for display, set on four clawed feet, and surmounted by a peaked roof topped by a tiered pagoda with carved figures to the interior. A further set of pagodas with figures adorns each corner.
The peaked roof decorated with a pair of magnificent phoenixes in flight flanking a large peony spray and a roundel featuring the goddess Magu and an attendant. The decoration of carved and inlaid boxwood. Clouds of carved bone scattered throughout. The sides of the roof each with a pair of sinuous dragons among clouds, a "shou" (longevity) medallion between them, all of carved and inlaid boxwood.

This exciting exploration is perhaps best-evidenced by Papillon pieces, Le Mounier’s series of inimitable cabinets, all rendered by his expert hand, and featuring doors carved into the shape of a butterfly’s wings. This particular iteration features wings covered in black straw marquetry, a delicate inner gate wrought of antiqued bronze, and a sumptuous interior of lemon ceylon wood.

Inspired by antique European luxury cabinet and reworked in a contemporary style, the cabinet de salon Corde materializes from the Stefano Trapani's idea of creating a refined, modern piece of furniture using the ancient inlay tecnique of wood marquetry.
The dialogue that takes place between materials and form represent the hearth of Corde cabinet, an interplay of exquisite elements wich connect it to a higher dimension, the artistic one, where design and art are the main protagonists.
Features
Crafted in Italy by Hebanon's master cabinet, the exterior marquetry is made in whitened birdseye maple wood with strips of black ash. The interior is a balance of geometries and volumes, achived using various exceptional materials, such as onyx, artistic glass, dichroic glass, mirror, metal and wood inlay.
Designer - Stefano Trapani
Graduated in architecture in Italy, Stefano Trapani began his first work experience in Paris in 2001 working on various projects including interior design, villas, flats and hotels. The architect has designed a collection of designer furniture still on display in a Home Gallery in Paris and created a chandelier for Plumbum that will be presented at the next Brussels Design Market 2021.
