The extraordinary piece of furniture is dated 1925. The piece of furniture is an extraordinary example of great cabinet making and woodworking. In fact, these special features are denoted by the manic inlays inserted in the cabinet. The inlays are perfect even in its smallest elements. Its depictions are mainly ornaments and floral elements. These inlays are found on the crown of the cabinet, on the sides, and on the legs. The cabinet opens via two lockable doors. Inside we find great magic! We are greeted by numerous walnut wood drawers of various sizes that can be opened with wooden knobs. Each wooden door is finely carved with ornaments and natural elements such as flowers and birds. The two main doors inside are also finely carved. Let's call it a chinoiserie piece of furniture because of this element that contradicts it: the numerous cabinets inserted inside, where opening this piece of furniture looks like opening a secret chest...

An English early-eighteenth century red japanned bow-front corner cupboard, or cabinet, George II-period, circa 1730.
In superb condition throughout.
Retaining its original butterfly hinges, with a period key and working lock.
These are usually encountered with a black background, however when in red these examples of japanning are much sought after. Many were produced domestically, often by talented female members of the family.
Note the charming English interpretations in the decorated surfaces.
An unusual subject can be seen in the base, a hunter on horseback with sword drawn, confronting a mythological beast, probably representing a tiger with mandarins posing amongst stylised pagodas, rooftops and rockwork.
Chinoiserie-decorated surfaces were extremely popular in the early part of the 18th century, almost reaching a craze among the upper classes wishing to demonstrate their fashionable status. There were several revivals of chinoiserie particularly in the first quarter of the 20th century, so caution is advised in one’s collecting. This type of decoration is also sometimes erroneously referred to as ''lacquer’'.
The fashion icon Coco Chanel furnished her exquisite Paris apartments largely in the European chinoiserie taste.

Storage space is crucial in any home and proper antique, new and vintage corner cupboards can make all the difference.
Corner cupboards are different from standard cupboards in that they are tall, spacious cupboards with curved or diagonal fronts and triangular backs that are designed specifically to fit into a room’s corner, or they’re not freestanding and have been built directly into the room. This kind of case piece — one of the offerings in what was deemed “corner furniture” — rose to popularity during the 18th century in England and America, occupying a prominent position in dining rooms before they were later moved into kitchens. Overhanging tops and urn-shaped finials adorned Chippendale-style corner cupboards in the mid- to late 1700s, while Victorian corner cupboards were made in woods such as walnut and mahogany and featured decoratively hand-carved cabinet doors.
There is a case piece for every storage conundrum, and in dining rooms it was helpful to have items for meals on hand in a tall corner cupboard. Smaller corner cupboards were built to hang from ceilings while larger versions stretched from floor to ceiling to make the most of the area.
