French Perfection!! A most impressive Renaissance Revival Henry II style well carved solid walnut sideboard server from the second half of the 19th century, finished in later chic distressed dusty blue painted finish with light airy hues of chalky gray.
Born in France, circa 1870, this piece is wonderfully hand carved and crafted with wonderful attention to detail. It features a rectangular wooden top over an ornate frieze with foliate carvings and decorative ornamentation, large dovetailed drawer in the center, flanked by a pair of smaller drawers, all affixed with original patinated brass pulls, rising over the open shelf base with classical arched fluted columns, paneled back, above stepped molded skirt, resting on bun feet.
It's a most impressive piece with the commanding presence 16th century Henri II furniture is known for, including handsome masculine lines and strong architectural form, combined with a relaxed shabby chic farmhouse refinement, beautifully aged warmth, and unfussy elegant sophistication.

Rare and spectacular, late 19th century chest of drawers.
This beautiful Empire style commode has obviously been used, but the condition is good to excellent. It has a beautifu warm color, but we have never seen this exotic wood ( burl/burr )with the leopard like dots. This unique chest is practical in size, marvelous in shape and the beautiful, gilt bronze Empire style elements also are wonderful to look at. The practical drawers with the stylish and top-class bronze handles, the wonderfully shaped legs with the bronze feet, the original marble top with its natural lines/veins, they all make this antique commode extra special.
All drawers still run smoothly, they are very clean on the inside (made of solid oak) and they all come with the original, uniquely designed and perfectly fitted, brass handles and key. Because of the size of the drawers, this one of a kind commode can hold a whole lot. Moreover, it is as stabile as the day it was made and thanks to its pleasing design it can be used in all sorts of interiors and for all kinds of purposes.
