Wonderful Late 19th-Early 20th Berlin K.P.M. Porcelain Rectangular Plaque
Located in Long Island City, NY
A wonderful late 19th-early 20th Berlin K.P.M. porcelain rectangular plaque Painted landscape scene with two women and their children playing, the background with two men, one playing an instrument. Impressed K.P.M and scepter marks, in the original frame. KPM is an acronym for Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin, which translates to “Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin.” The company was founded in 1763 by Frederick II of Prussia, who bought the factory from its previous owner, Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky, in the wake of its bankruptcy. Frederick II greatly admired the factory’s “white gold,” a type of porcelain so fine and translucent that it closely mirrored the high-quality porcelain made in China. He invested large sums of money into the company and granted it the use of the royal scepter...

Rare Dutch Church Interior Rozenburg Porcelain Tile Painting After J. Bosboom
Located in Lisse, NL
Beautiful large tile painting of a Gothic church interior by W.B. van Horssen (1863-1931). We very recently purchased a small collection of very rare antique plaques, tiles and vases by some of the best known maker's in the history of Dutch ceramics. This unique, hand-crafted and hand-painted work of art is the first one of that collection and this stunning and rare, single tiles plaque is in its original wooden frame. Because of their contrasting colors, the frame and tile painting go together really well. And these are in fact two works of art, because both the stunningly hand-painted tile and the wooden frame are as good as they come. With the borders of the frame coming as far outward as they do and the Gothic church interior that is drawing your attention deep into the back of the church, they really complement each other. However beautiful the frame is, this antique ofcourse is about the painting and this particular painting is by one of Rozenburg's finest (Wijnand Bastiaan van Horssen) who has perfectly managed to enhance the depth that is already in this composition, thus creating a visual effect that is an absolute joy to look at. By the way, the price that you see on the 'sticker' that the former owner put on the back after he had purchased this piece was put there in the 'old days' when we still had the Dutch guilder. The original painting of the Nieuwe Kerk in the Hague Holland (built in circa 1650) was by J. Bosboom. Besides one small old crack and a few minor imperfections to the frame, this unique and wonderful work of art is in very good condition still and may it grace the home or chapel of a Gothic style enthousiast soon. Mind you, because of their relative fragility very few of these amazing and high value works of art are still around. Rozenburg of the Hague, where this unique tile painting was created, was always one of the greats in Dutch ceramics and many of their works grace museums all over Europe. Rozenburg’s shareholders included the likes of the marine painter H.W. Mesdag (1831-1915) and the poet and literary critic Carel Vosmaer (1826-1888), and its tile painters numbered rising artists like Willem de Zwart...

Bjørn Wiinblad porcelain Rosenthal Studio Line Collectable Plate. In pristine condition. Dimensions: 6.25 in. diameter. Artist: Bjørn Wiinblad. Plate Number: 4 (series of 12) Title: Aladin in the Enchanted Garden Hardware: Fixed, hanging. Aladdin and the Magic Lamp series was designed in the 60s by the Danish artist and chief designer of Rosenthal, Björn Wiinblad. Connoisseurs of Wiinblad's work know that this great artist worked in various industries and fields in the 20th century and had his works in renowned museums such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the National Museum in Sweden, were collected from the Moderna Museet in Copenhagen and today have a high collector's value. Rosenthal is a German company that is well-known for its production of high-quality porcelain and other luxury goods. The company has a long history, dating back to the late 19th century, and it has collaborated with various artists and designers over the years to create unique and artistic pieces. This Bjorn Wiinblad Vintage Danish Modern Rosenthal porcelain " Aladdin " collector's decorative plate is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection. The porcelain collector's decorative wall plate is made by Rosenthal Studio Line, Germany from 1976 - 1982. Made of fine porcelain, the round decorative plate features a beautiful multicolor design of Aladdin with special metallic gold details. It is signed in the plate lower front and has an attached hanger on the reverse back side for easy wall installation. Characteristics of Wiinblad's work include whimsical round faced people, dressed vaguely in 19th Century costume. They are often surrounded by natural elements : twining vines, floral wreathes, and fantastical trees. When Wiinblad employed color, he did so with great assurance. His color palette is saturated and strong, often accented with metallic gold or silver. Bjørn Wiinblad was a Danish painter, designer, and artist known for his distinctive and whimsical style. He gained international recognition for his work, which often featured imaginative and decorative elements. Wiinblad was active from the mid-20th century until his passing in 2006.
