Bernard Lorjou (1908 - 1986) was a French expressionist painter and a founding member of the anti-abstract art group L'homme Témoin. At the age of 13, he went to Paris, where, through contacts with the anarchists of Libertaire, he discovered the work of Édouard Manet. In 1931 he visited Spain. There he learned about the work of El Greco, Velasquez and, above all, Goya, who inspired him to paint socio-political episodes.
