Ancient Axum Gilt Coin Necklace and Bracelet Set in 18k Yellow Gold
Located in Miami, FL
These coins are from Axum, the ancient Christian Kingdom in Ethiopia. They're gilt bronze coins from the 4th century. These ancient coins are more than 1,700 years old, and their condition would be formally described as "Fair" meaning they have visible signs of cosmetic wear, including scratches and cracks, but remains in fair condition. The coins are set in a stunning 18k solid gold bezel setting that protects the coins from being damaged. ✔ Metal: Yellow Gold ✔ Metal Purity: 18K ✔ Item Weight: 62.3 grams ✔ Coin Count: 10 coins ✔ Dimensions: Necklace: 16 inches / Bracelet: 7.5 inches Certificate of appraisal can be included upon request. Here is some more info regarding the coins found on Acsearch "KINGS of AXUM (Aksum). Ouazebas. Circa 350-400 AD. Æ 18mm (2.20 gm). OVAZEBAC BACI ΛEΨC, draped bust right wearing headcloth, flanked by grain ears / +TOV TO APECH TH XWPA, small draped bust right in circle; the interior of the circle gilt. Munro-Hay 54; BMC Aksum 245. Near VF, some earthen patina." "One of the most curious aspects of Axumite coinage is the use of gilding on some of their silver and bronze coins. The amount of gold used would not be enough to significantly change the value of the coin, and the reason for this process remains somewhat a mystery. It is usually found highlighting the portrait of the king or as an embellishment of the cross, so it may serve the same purpose as gold tesserae in church mosaics...

Athenian silver tetradrachm coins hold a significant place in ancient Greek history and numismatics. These coins, which date back to the 5th century BCE, were minted in Athens, the cultural and intellectual hub of the ancient world. On the obverse side of the coin, one can observe the profile head of the goddess Athena, adorned with a crested Attic helmet. The helmet is beautifully ornamented with three laurel leaves and a vine scroll, symbolizing victory and prosperity. Athena, the goddess of wisdom and warfare, was highly revered in Athens, making her the ideal choice for the obverse design. The reverse side presents an owl, the sacred bird of Athena, standing and facing right. The owl symbolizes knowledge, intelligence, and vigilance. To the right of the owl, the inscription ΑΘΕ in Ancient Greek letters denotes the city of Athens. Behind the owl, an olive spring and a crescent moon can be found, further emphasizing the ties to Athena and highlighting the importance of these symbolic elements in Athenian culture. The entire motif and inscription are enclosed within an incuse square, which creates a visually appealing and distinctive design. The use of an incuse square is an ancient technique that adds depth and texture to the overall appearance of the coin. Athenian silver tetradrachms were not only used as a medium of exchange but also served as powerful propaganda tools, showcasing the grandeur and influence of Athens. The intricate design and skilled craftsmanship of these coins exemplify the artistic prowess and cultural significance of ancient Greece. Today, Athenian silver tetradrachms are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, not only for their historical value but also for their aesthetic appeal. These coins provide a tangible link to the rich heritage of ancient Athens and continue to captivate the imagination of individuals fascinated by the ancient world. Ancient coins have been utilized in jewelry for centuries, particularly in the form of pendants. These coins, which hold historical value and artistic allure, have been incorporated into various jewelry pieces, often serving as a testament to the wearer's appreciation for antiquity. The charm of ancient coin pendants lies in their exquisite craftsmanship and the stories they evoke. Whether it's a Roman denarius, a Greek drachma, or an Egyptian silver tetradrachm, these coins showcase the intricate details of ancient civilizations, featuring mythological figures, rulers, and symbols. The timeless beauty of these coins, combined with the creativity of jewelry designers, results in unique and captivating pendants. The significance of ancient coin pendants extends beyond their aesthetics. They provide a tangible connection to the past, serving as a bridge between modernity and antiquity. Each coin holds its own history, offering a glimpse into the economic, cultural, and political landscape of its time. By wearing such a pendant, individuals express their fascination with the past and their desire to keep its legacy alive. Throughout history, numerous prominent figures have been known to wear ancient jewelry, including pendants adorned with coins. Royals and nobles, such as queens and princesses, often possessed elaborate collections of ancient jewels, showcasing their wealth and refinement. Notable examples include Cleopatra, who adorned herself with opulent jewel-encrusted diadems and pendants featuring ancient Egyptian coins...

Excellent gold coin - see picture with US Quarter for scale (also shows smaller gold Indian coins I have for sale). Comes with certificate which guarantees authenticity and provides background information (listed below) on the acquired coin. Indian, Post-Kushan (Jammu and Kashmir) - Kidarite Successors, Vinayaditya Obverse: abstract Kushan style king standing left; ka in Brahmi to left; to right, jaya and monogram of Kidara in Brahmi Reverse: Abstract Ardoxsho seated facing, holding filleted investiture garland and cornucopia; ditya in Brahmi to left, śri vinaya in Brahmi down right Struck 5th-7th century The Kidarites, or Kidara Huns, were a dynasty that ruled Bactria and adjoining parts of Central Asia and South Asia in the 4th and 5th centuries. The Kidarites belonged to a complex of peoples known collectively in India as the Huna, and in Europe as the Chionites (from the Iranian names Xwn/Xyon), and may even be considered as identical to the Chionites. The 5th century Byzantine historian Priscus called them Kidarite Huns, or "Huns who are Kidarites". The Huna/Xionite tribes are often linked, albeit controversially, to the Huns who invaded Eastern Europe during a similar period. They are entirely different from the Hephthalites, who replaced them about a century later. Ardoksho (Bactrian script Αρδοχϸο), also Romanised as Ardochsho, Ardokhsho and Ardoxsho, the Iranic goddess of wealth was a female deity of the Kushan Empire...
