Fish, Figurative, Bronze Wood by Contemporary Indian Artist "In Stock"
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Subrata Paul - Fish Bronze & Wood, H 31 x W 27 x D 8 inches About : Subrata Paul ( b 1972) is one of the empanelled sculptors of Abundant Art Gallery. Subrata Paul’s favoured materials are bronze embellished with wood. His signature fusion of the two different materials with his stitching style lends an unique texture to his sculptures. Our collection, includes some of his remarkable creations including “Fish”, “Goat” and “Bull”.Paul’s ‘Fish’ represents contrasting characteristics. The Buddha like drooping eyes of the ‘Fish’ is contrasted paradoxically against the frenzied fins, reminding us of Medusa’s dishevelled hair. Calmness and restlessness in one form, the ‘Fish’ resembles the life force. It is a metaphor for the inner human strength to swim against the tide of adversities. His ‘The King’ represents an imperial image. The statute is looking towards heaven, as if seeking some inspiration to perform his royal duties. His crown is like a crown of thorns. It is not a pleasant task but it has to be performed. His attire declares he has to modify his own life into the straightjacket of his royal duties. Another creation of his, ‘Bull’ recalls the interpretation of a bison of the Altamira cave paintings. Paul’s ‘Meditation’ series defines peace in different perspectives through various aspects of Buddha figures. Inspired by sculptors such as Sunil Kumar Das...

Jaali: Phulwari (Flower Garden) - Embroidered Tapestry Wall Hanging
Located in Asheville, NC
Jaali: Jaali' of Urdu origin meaning netting, is an ornamental open work originally crafted on wood, metal and stone for interiors. A significant feature of Indo-Islamic art, the Jaali is an intricate pattern ranging from delicate trellises to complex floral layouts. The wall panels depict the interlacing design of the Jaali in mid earth tones on silk. The compositions of flowers and the paisley are embroidered in thread with subtle highlightes of shine. A note on handmade: A handmade product is always appealing due to the irregularities in its workmanship. This is what sets it apart from machine made or computerized; the perfection they offer feels synthetic or artificial. Especially when one speaks of art and craft. These wall panels are works of hand worked embroideries. Imperfections such as an occasional puckering of the base material are expected with the kind of embroidery stitches used. You are assured these artworks are embroidered by highly skilled artisans (it is not possible for craftsmen of lesser experience to create these pieces) The materials used for the embroideries are of superior quality only. Untitled, Acrylic on Canvas, Grey, Black Contemporary Indian Artist “In Stock”
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Rahim Mirza - Untitled Acrylic on Canvas, 12 x 12 inches (unframed size) Born in 1969, Rahim Mirza completed his art education at Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal, where he studied printmaking. Mirza’s current body of work however, is largely made up of acrylics on canvas. The leaf occupies a central motif in much of his work, representing, perhaps, a multiplicity of emotions; while the appearance of the first leaf signifies Spring and renewal, the shedding of the brown leaves in Autumn heralds the onset of winter. It is these subtleties and the complexity of the simple motif that intrigue the artist. While Mirza focuses on the leaf, he chooses to remove it from its natural environment. Thus while the leaf is a prominent symbol in his work, there generally is no sign of a tree or any context beyond its form. In its multiplicity, the artist creates rhythm and meaning that is far beyond its reach. Mirza had his first solo exhibition at Crimson Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2000. This was followed by others at Archer Art Gallery, Ahmedabad, in 2001; and Diara art Gallery in 2002. His work has also been a part of group shows like 'Collective Spaces' at M.E.C. Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2006; 'Anadi' at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, in 2000; and 'Vibgyor' at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, also in 2000. Mirza has also participated in 'Samvet', the Madhya Pradesh exhibition at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, in 1999; the Tokyo International Print Triennial in 1998; the 8th All India Art...

Ramp Figure, Bronze Sculpture, Black color by Modern Indian Artist "In Stock"
By K.S. Radhakrishnan
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
K.S. Radhakrishnan - Ramp Figure Bronze Sculpture H 13 x W 10 x D 6 inches K.S. Radhakrishnan working with Musui & Maiya, Musui potraits has a hand Rickshaw puller as is still prevalent in few parts of Bengal. The bronze figures are elfin, mischievous, airy, acrobatic, and archaic, delicately balancing on one hand or leg. He renders a sensuous quality to his works by deploying extraordinary body movements of his figures. Radhakrishnan is a distinctive and appealing presence on the modern Indian sculpture scene. He says: “For me bronze works best because it is strong, and brings out the character of my sculptures. Although it takes time, the process also becomes a part of my art form.” Style : K.S Radhakrishnan is one of the most notable among the new generation of sculptors. Like many of his contempories he is a figurative sculptor, but his preference for modelling and bronze casting sets him apart from the rest of them. Recharging age old sculptural processes with a new sensibility, thus is the singular challenge he brings to modern Indian sculpture. And this makes him a modernist - who approaches his work with discernible ambition and considerable aplomb while steering clear of brinkmanship. Radhakrishnan's works often drawn from the emotions and myths of the Hindu gods, such as Shiva, Kali and Radha. His sculptures are often larger than life-sized; placed in the outdoors, they evoke a superhuman atmosphere. Over the years, Radhakrishnan has experienced with alternate sculpting mediums, working in molten bronze, beeswax and Plaster of Paris. The physical process of working with the materials becomes a performance in itself. The sculpture is the product of a tactile engagement with his medium. With celebration of sensuality as one of its running themes, his works is at once both intimate and universal in its appeal. A personal commemorative sculpture, with a scale and presence that holds well in natural settings, his work has found permanent home in a number of public collections all over the world. Untitled, Tempera on Board by Modern Indian Artist Lalu Prasad Shaw "In Stock"
By Lalu Prasad Shaw
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Lalu Prasad Shaw - Untitled - 25 x 20.5 inches Tempera on Board, 2015 Style : Known widely for his highly stylized portraits of Bengali women and couples, Lalu Prasad Shaw’s works lay the most emphasis on his subject’s physical characteristics. Capturing the expressions of his subjects perfectly with the greatest economy of line and colour each of Shaw’s paintings has an intimate feel to it. Influenced by the pre-independence Company School of art, the traditional Kalighat Pat and the Ajanta cave paintings, Shaw’s works, mainly executed in gouache or tempera, like his own person, are simple and graceful, having a very still, well-composed and smooth exterior. This senior artist draws his inspiration primarily from nature and the milieu surrounding the great Bengali middle class, often depicting pleasant and quiet scenes from his own life on his canvases and papers. His style is unique and modern in its adaptation of academic and traditional Indian formats. A particularly notable aspect of Shaw's paintings is their simple yet sophisticated look. One notices a seamless synthesis of different stylistic elements to achieve a phenomenal effect. About the Artist and his work : Born : 1937 in Bengal. Education : completed his education in fine arts at the Government College of Arts and Crafts in Kolkata. International Shows : 1970 - Second British Biennale in London; 1974 - Norwegian Print...
