The sculptures of Damon Hyldreth appear both static and fluid, rigid and flexible, strong and smooth, effectively blurring the line between nature and structure. By crafting organic forms from an obviously man-made metal, Hyldreth creates a unique symbiosis between nature and structure, unifying the sculpture and the surroundings through the free-flowing energy and architecture of his artworks.
Keeping in mind the intimate connection between artists and their tools, Hyldreth studies the potential energies of his metals and coaxes out exquisite forms and natural power. Using mainly stainless steel, as well as the occasional bronze and Cor-ten steel, Hyldreth allows his materials to dictate their final shape and become an ultimate collaboration between man and matter. The evocative forms subliminally draw the audience in, giving every viewer a deeply personal experience.
In 2004 Damon received his BFA in Sculpture from San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, CA. He is drawn to the hidden workings of the human body, and of this, the Remains to be Seen collaborative series was born.
Remains to be Seen is created in close conjunction with his wife and artistic partner, Amanda Sjoling. The series peels away the external layers of our corporal bodies to showcase the beauty of the mechanical framework of skeletons. These expressive and humorous figures, cast in the traditional lost wax process, are life-size and completely anatomically correct limited edition works. The Sjoling team aims to create such quality bronze works that they present just as well from a distance as they do upon close examination. The works are both nobody and everybody at the same time through their lack of external characteristics. The Sjoling team aims to facilitate the viewer’s thoughts through such expansive and intricate topics as love, vanishing consumerism and greed, and life and death by offering the observer a universal portrait and a profound dichotomy that is so simple that it is obvious.

A veteran home and furniture builder, David turned his interest in design and fabrication from the functional and practical to the imaginative and artistic. Interested in welding and the properties of metal, David attended two summer sessions in blacksmithing at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, where he began to connect to a medium much different than wood.
Intrigued and inspired by the strength and flexibility of steel, Tanych started using it to construct functional objects such as tables, picture frames, and garden pergolas. As his skill progressed, Tanych began building huge outdoor steel sculptures. Likened to the work of veteran sculptor Claes Oldenburg, Tanych's most recent pieces are big and bold, representing everyday objects such as a skeleton key and matching keyhole, and a set of three jacks and a ball. The results are fun and playful, instantly bringing the viewer back to a time when these items were common place. When complete, the sculptures are acid etched, allowing them to rust naturally and adding a textural dimension to their unique charm. Tanych’s work alters the environment in which they are placed, in a way that could not be otherwise realized.

Copper was first inspired to sculpt bats when she was visiting a temple in Chachongsao, Thailand, where she encountered hundreds of thousands of bats hanging above her, wings gently quivering. Copper remembers that she had never thought about bats before, but at that moment she was captivated and started to research them.
