Coulombe-Bégin’s work portrays from colorful hearts to specific parts of the human body, especially large close-up portrayals of the mouth and eyes, which are depicted with great contrasts of color and chiaroscuro. These symbols are constructed with specific gestures and drippings in which Coulombe-Bégin expresses an abstract universe full of movement, symbolism, and eroticism.
Born in Miami, Coulombe-Bégin grew up in Quebec City where she earned a Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2006 from Laval University. Starting very young, her parents focused a great deal on both the arts and athletics which helped her develop her mode of expression.
“I am particularly interested in the fragmented corporal shell, which I emphasize through spontaneous movement and vivid colors.” stated Coulombe-Bégin. “My experience with painting has led me to see things differently, to self-discovery and great astonishment."
Coulombe-Bégin's works have been exhibited and collected worldwide, including Canada, the United States, Europe, South America, and Australia.

An early 1900s modern art movement, Cubism focused on exploring relationships between images, perspectives and materials, and opened the door to Abstraction. Cubism began in Paris with Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. The term 'Cubist' was a derisive description by a critic of a geometric landscape painting done by Braque in 1908. Juan Gris, the originator of Collage, joined Picasso and Braque in 1910. Originating influences on Cubism included geometric-shaped paintings of Paul Cezanne, Post-Impressionisms’ emphasis on flat picture surfaces, and Picasso's fascination with the abstraction he perceived in African tribal masks. Aspects of Cubism were Analytical Cubism and Synthetic Cubism (see Glossary). By 1914, the Cubist movement as an organizing force officially terminated with the beginning of World War I. Jirayr Hamparzoom Zorthian was born April 14, 1911 in Kutahya, Turkey, of Armenian parents. At the age of three, he showed considerable talent in drawing and painting.
Zorthian went through two Turkish massacres before age eight. He left Turkey at age nine with his family and spent a year in Padua, Italy, waiting for his visa to open to the United States. This period was very important in his life because his father took him to many cities in Europe and exposed him to great works of art.
Zorthian arrived in the United States at the age of eleven and settled with his family in New Haven, Connecticut. He obtained his formal education there, after graduating from Yale, the Winchester Fellowship granted him a year and a half at the American Academy in Rome with travel and study throughout Europe.
His art career branched into various directions on his return to the United States. As a mural painter his reputation was established. He has forty two (42) murals throughout the United States. Zorthian worked and taught painting at some of the finest art academies on the west coast including both the Chouinard Art Institute and the Otis Art Institute.

Mohamad Khayata’s original figurative artworks are the result of five years of displacement and deal with themes of migration, memory, and identity. Mohamad’s paintings convey an array of emotions, ranging from bliss and comfort to tension and uncertainty. Many of his paintings portray a sense of transience, which is all the more palpable when considering that Khayata's intimate work is a tribute to displaced people and to their daily life stories that, far from familiar surroundings, are filled with effort and hope.

His photography project "Stitching my Syria back" was chosen to be part of Journeys Festival International 2016 as a landmark for the “Look up” project in Leicester, where his photographs were installed on ten buildings. In the last five years, Khayata also participated in ten collective exhibitions across Europe and the Middle East. Holding his BA in Fine Arts obtained at Damascus University, Khayata is a bastion of Syrian legacy, memory, home, and happiness.
