Rocks in the Water, Lakeside Park is part of a series of studies of rocks in shallow waters. This time near the city of Oakville, west of Toronto. The use of 10-stop ND filter helps to create the smooth texture of the water. Rick uses this technique often, not only for the look that it produces but also because it forces the process of producing the image in the field to slow down.

Trips north of Toronto are required to get large expansive fields of fresh, untrodden snow. This image was taken at a hillside intersection near the town of Caledon, Ontario. What attracted Rick to this view was the curved lines at the base of the trees and the snowy field.

Seven Trees, Sunnyside Beach – Fog seems like a rare occurrence in Toronto. When it happens, one needs to act quickly. In this instance, Rick opted to head to the shores of Lake Ontario near Sunnyside Beach by his home. He found this stand of trees near Sunnyside Pavilion. During a visit to Parry Sound, Ontario. Rick made a side trip to Killbear Provincial Park and photographed this windswept white pine. Growing out of a large granite outcrop, it is known as the most photographed tree in Ontario. This photograph was featured in the Horizons group show at Toronto’s Twist Gallery in January, 2023.

Grenadier Pond is in High Park in Toronto, which opened to the public in 1876. It spans 161 hectares (400 acres) and is the second-largest municipal park in Toronto. It is a great location for photographers and naturalists. This image was taken at around 6:30 a.m. at the park’s Grenadier Pond. A long exposure really enhances the reflection of the trees and brush at the pond’s shoreline.

This giclee print by Shani Mootoo is editioned, 1/5. The work is matted, framed. Unframed size is 21 x 31.5 inches. It is also available in two other sizes, 12 x 28 (framed 21 x 27 inches, edition of 10, $2,000); and 16 x 24 inches (25 x 33 inches framed, edition of 8, $2,600.).
Mootoo describes how this image was created:
"I was at my printer's studio working on a body of photographs when we were interrupted by a customer who needed his attention for a few minutes. I agreed on a pause so that that customer could be accommodated, and my printer suggested I roam the garden, as there was a lot to see there. Just before the exit to the garden was a room crammed with pastel knick-knacks. A glass sliding door stood closed between me and this room, which seemed to be a combination of very special private space and a storage room. I immediately had the sense that I was seeing a photograph waiting to be taken and, as I had my Sony Rx100m7 camera around my neck, I ran back to my printer and asked if I could go into the room.
