Sem Doodle Collection Medium Pot by Maya Leroy
By SEM
Located in Brooklyn, NY
This plant pot in colors light blue, deep brown, and cream white, exclusive for SEM, has the serial number 2022040. Both vases in the collection have been chromatically studied, in a curious contrast of pattern and materials. “Doodle” is a rough drawing made absent-mindedly. And this is how Maya Leroy’s project started, from a need to create without having to be too serious about it or overly think things while having fun. Air dry clay has proven to be an ideal medium to work independently and without firing and, funny enough, from this total freedom, Maya created an intriguing and psychedelic series which looks unlimited. Opening up to new collaborations, SEM became fascinated with this form of hand crafting with the aim of developing two special objects—created ad hoc by Maya for the milanese brand—in an unlimited series produced by the artisans of the brand’s net.One of the most interesting phenomena of the moment is, in fact, the way in which hands-on designers can bring innovations in craft ateliers, challenging and updating the existing techniques and materials, or simply questioning them and creating a real dialogue between craftsman and designer that has unexpected results. MAYA LEROY Born in 1994 to a Swedish mother and French father, Maya Eline Leroy is an artist and designer currently based in Eindhoven — The Netherlands. Expressing creativity through painting, drawing and hand-building clay. Her Doodle series is an ever expanding collection of unique, hand build and hand painted contemporary ceramics.

19th Century Glazed Terracotta Cheese Strainer circa 1800
Located in LA CIOTAT, FR
This rare early 19th-century cheese strainer is a beautiful example of traditional French rural pottery. Handcrafted in terracotta, it features a rich honey-brown glaze on the interior and rim, contrasting with the natural, unglazed base on the outside. The piece is instantly recognizable by its unique form: a wide, shallow basin with a raised central platform, designed to separate whey from curd during the cheese-making process. The slight lip on the rim and the central pedestal are both functional and decorative, reflecting the artisanal know-how of the period. This antique strainer...

Rare Dutch Church Interior Rozenburg Porcelain Tile Painting After J. Bosboom
By Rozenburg Porcelain
Located in Lisse, NL
Beautiful large tile painting of a Gothic church interior by W.B. van Horssen (1863-1931). We very recently purchased a small collection of very rare antique plaques, tiles and vases by some of the best known maker's in the history of Dutch ceramics. This unique, hand-crafted and hand-painted work of art is the first one of that collection and this stunning and rare, single tiles plaque is in its original wooden frame. Because of their contrasting colors, the frame and tile painting go together really well. And these are in fact two works of art, because both the stunningly hand-painted tile and the wooden frame are as good as they come. With the borders of the frame coming as far outward as they do and the Gothic church interior that is drawing your attention deep into the back of the church, they really complement each other. However beautiful the frame is, this antique ofcourse is about the painting and this particular painting is by one of Rozenburg's finest (Wijnand Bastiaan van Horssen) who has perfectly managed to enhance the depth that is already in this composition, thus creating a visual effect that is an absolute joy to look at. By the way, the price that you see on the 'sticker' that the former owner put on the back after he had purchased this piece was put there in the 'old days' when we still had the Dutch guilder. The original painting of the Nieuwe Kerk in the Hague Holland (built in circa 1650) was by J. Bosboom. Besides one small old crack and a few minor imperfections to the frame, this unique and wonderful work of art is in very good condition still and may it grace the home or chapel of a Gothic style enthousiast soon. Mind you, because of their relative fragility very few of these amazing and high value works of art are still around. Rozenburg of the Hague, where this unique tile painting was created, was always one of the greats in Dutch ceramics and many of their works grace museums all over Europe. Rozenburg’s shareholders included the likes of the marine painter H.W. Mesdag (1831-1915) and the poet and literary critic Carel Vosmaer (1826-1888), and its tile painters numbered rising artists like Willem de Zwart...
