This Oriental rug for sale was woven in Asian Anatolia, Turkey in the historic city of Hereke. In the mid-19th century, Sultan Abdul Majid proclaimed Hereke to be the royal weaving village. The small rugs were woven there were considered the finest in the world. All examples of this woven rug used select Borsa silk which is the finest quality carpet silk. The Sultan required that all of the silk rugs woven in Hereke had to be signed with the name Hereke. These oriental rugs were regularly woven for the aristocracy in Europe, Asia, and The Middle East. The design of this luxury rugs is unique because it is an interpretation of the famous 17th century Mughal carpet from India. The Mughal carpet was exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum and was illustrated in the book called Flowers Under Foot, published by the Museum. The gold rug has 1200 knots per square inch, and the entire field is woven of silver/metallic thread. The signature of these patterned rugs (see detail photos) is written in Ottoman script and says Use Ipek, which was the premier workshops in Hereke during the 1970s.

Though the colours are chosen to convey a sunny setting, there is nonetheless enough soft contrast to create several points of interest between the borders and the activity at the heart of the antique woven rug itself. The dancing leaves and petals are spaced out in a series of original arrangements on the handmade carpet, resulting in an attractive collection of motifs that seem to have been strewn about by the wind. This candid scene conveys an almost intimate degree of secrecy as if the viewer has stumbled upon a rare sight in the natural world. Magnificent Floral Silk Rugs, Turkish Hereke Oriental Rug Handmade Carpet

The manufacturing of these masterpieces luxury oriental rugs began late the 19th century. This handmade carpet was woven in Asian Anatolia, Turkey in the historic city of Hereke. In the mid-19th century, Sultan Abdul Majid proclaimed Hereke to be the royal weaving village. The silk rugs were woven there were considered the finest in the world. All examples used select Borsa silk which is the finest quality carpet silk. The Sultan required that all of the silk rugs woven in Hereke had to be signed with the name Hereke. These carpets were regularly woven for the aristocracy in Europe, Asia, and The Middle East. The design of this rug is unique because it is an interpretation of the famous 17th century Mughal carpet from India. The Mughal carpet was exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum and was illustrated in the book called flowers under foot, published by the Museum. The carpet has 1200 knots per square inch, and the entire field is woven of silver/metallic thread. The signature (see detail photos) is written in the ottoman script and says Use Ipek, which was the premier workshops in Hereke during the 1980s.

The flat-weave rug has light red, orange, green, white, yellow and brown colors. The rust background of this floral rug has the same patterns in different colors all-over design. The border, however, has narrow small brown borders with a light orange border in the edge. Large and colorful Turkish rugs would complement your home as floor rugs. These large kilims look beautiful and would stand out as hallway rugs or bedroom rugs. These washable rugs are one of a kind and cannot be found in every rug warehouse or rug store. This wool rug has a very elegant central medallion.
