Its foundation was an attempt by France in the seventeenth century to reproduce the expensive oriental carpets, but the main feature of these carpets is the Western style decor, which introduced an absolute novelty in the furnishings of the time. The productions of Savonerie over the years have become multiple, the most popular in addition to the French are the Spanish and Austrian. They were manufactories created specifically to produce large carpets intended for sumptuous noble palaces.
