Very vibrant, dynamic orchestra scene reminiscent of the work of Mopp (Max Oppenheim) David Aronson, (1923-2015) son of a rabbi, was born in Lithuania in 1923 and immigrated to America at the age of five. He settled in Boston, Massachusetts where he studied at the school of the Museum of Fine Arts under Karl Zerbe, a German painter well known in the early 1900s. Aronson later taught at the school of the Museum of Fine Arts for fourteen years and founded the School of Fine Art at Boston University where he is today a professor emeritus. An internationally renowned sculptor & painter, Aronson has won acclaim for his interpretation of themes from the Hebrew Talmud and Kabala. His best known works include bronze castings, encaustic paintings, and pastels. His work is included in many important public and private collections, and has been shown in several museum retrospectives around the country. He is considered to be one of the most important 20th century American artists. At twenty-two David Aronson had his first one-man show at New York's Niveau Gallery. The next year, six of his Christological paintings were included in the Fourteen Americans exhibition at Manhattan's Museum of Modern Art where Aronson’s work was included alongside abstract expressionists Arshile Gorky, Robert Motherwell and Isamu Noguchi. In the 1950s, Aronson turned more toward his Jewish heritage for the inspiration for his art. Folklore as well as Kabalistic and other transcendental writings influenced his work greatly. The Golem (a legendary figure, brought to life by the Maharal of Prague out of clay to protect the Jewish community during times of persecution) and the Dybbuk (an evil spirit that lodges itself in the soul of a living person until exorcised) frequently appear in his work. In the sixties, Aronson turned to sculpture. His work during this period is best exemplified by a magnificent 8’ x 4’ bronze door which now stands at the entrance to Frank Lloyd Wright's Johnson Foundation Conference Center for the Arts in Racine, Wisconsin. In the seventies and eighties, Aronson continued his work in pastel drawings, paintings, and sculptures, often exploring religion and the frailties of man's nature. During this time, in addition to a traveling retrospective exhibition and many one-man shows in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston at the Pucker-Safrai Gallery on Newbury Street, Aronson won many awards and became a member of the National Academy of Design in New York. Two years ago he retired from teaching to work full-time in his studio in Sudbury, Massachusetts. included in the catalog Contemporary Religious Imagery in American Art Catalog for an exhibition held at the Ringling Museum of Art, March 1-31, 1974. My life as an artist started in 1976 when I left Kishinev (Bessarabia) for Israel. In my youth I did not have the opportunity to study an regularly, although I learned painting during some two years at the Belle-Arts Academy in Kishinev and one year in Bucarest. My youth was spent during world war 2 when Bessarabia was annexed by the Soviet Union, years of hunger and the need to work very hard to be able to survive. I worked as a retoucher of photographs in a studio. When I arrived in Israeli went to live in Jerusalem and took up painting as my only ocupation, not as in Russia where it was one of my occupations which I had to do sometimes in hiding, stealong time from my everyday jobs. Israel, its colourings, impressed me much: the blue of the sky, the turquoise of the sea, the palette of desert colours. The stones of Israel looked alive and I wished I could paint them all. In 19761 started to expose my work. Since then I participated in a number of exhibitions in groups and alone. Since 1984 I am a member of the Israeli Union of Painters and Sculptors. The last exhibition where I took part was at the Salon des Beaux-Arts in Paris together in a group of Jerusalem artists. Marco Cingolani was born in Como in 1961 and moved to Milan at a very young age, in 1978. He began to frequent the underground creative environment, where art was mixed with fashion and punk music. In those years a new artistic sensibility was being formalized in Milan, whose roots no longer sank in the history of art and in the citation but practiced the critical manipulation of reality and its communication through the mass media. The image was taken out of context, subtracted from the use of common sense, radically distorted, almost mocked. The work of Marco Cingolani, from the beginning, has always tried to cancel the regulatory power of media images, subjecting them to the radical care of the artist, certain that art offers a decisive point of view for the interpretation of the world. In this context the interviews of the Interviews were born, where celebrities for their privacy were submerged by the microphones and the famous series dedicated to the attack on the Pope and to the tragic story of Aldo Moro. After having participated in numerous group exhibitions including An emerging scene (1991, Museo Pecci, Prato) and Two or three things that I know of them (1998, PAC, Milan), he is dedicated to major anthological exhibitions at prestigious public institutions such as Palazzo Strozzi in Florence and Promoter of Fine Arts in Turin. In 2009 a return to the origins for Marco Cingolani, often the author of works expressly inspired by the religious theme. In particular, for this exhibition entitled " Percorsi della Fede", the artist focused his attention on the Marian apparitions that have marked the last two centuries: Lourdes and Fatima . Following service in WWII, Roberto came to America sponsored by the famous conductor Arturo Toscanini. A painting he did of the maestro was purchased by the San Francisco Art Commission. He moved to San Francisco where he taught at the Art Institute. Roberto Lupetti (1918 - 1997) was active/lived in California / Italy. Roberto Lupetti is known for Figure, ship, still life painting. Particularly judaic rabbi paintings and Jewish genre scenes. Lupetti earned five degrees from the Italian Royal Academy of Fine Arts, was a team member for the refurbishment of the Vatican's Sistine Chapel, and immigrated to the U.S after World War II. Known for his Renaissance art and large murals, he created a few western genre pieces, including a Day in the Life of A Cowboy (5) 5'x10' murals were painted oil on masonite in 1959. He was born in 1917. He painted very few seascapes, preferring to paint scenes of fishermen on ships, usually in a storm setting.
